Seriously ATS, just chill for a minute. I don't think you'll find many people these days who actually think the current path is in any way sustainable. Obviously it isn't. We are clearly headed for very hard times.
Panic at this realization is natural, but don't forget, this is the same country that mobilized overnight from a far worse state than we currently find ourselves today and defeated the Nazis and the Japs simultaneously.
We will do it again, you'll see. Americans are procrastinators, whiners and naysayers who couldn't work together to screw in a lighbulb for anything short of saving our asses. Then we light up a whole stadium literally overnight.
Interesting take. The optimist in me hopes that you are right.
We could only hope. A good reorganizing of America would do the country some good.
The worst mistake in the history of America was slavery. The second worst mistake was made by Lincoln. He should have let the south go. We would not be stuck with them today if he had.

I agree. But I think they equally agree with you, but for very different reasons.
The sad part is America won't collapse because the general public is too ignorant and simple minded to have a revolution. The middle class will continue to decline and shoulder more of the weight of the loop hole exploiting wealthy and job less poor.
No outside force is going to ever invade because America is too expensive to maintain. It's easier to keep lending money and profiting.
America will continue invading foreign countries to exploit them for the benefit of big business that doesn't trickle down to the general public and these foreign countries will continue to respond with terrorist attacks here and there. The general public will perish in the attacks and invasions of foreign nations.
As has been the trend since the 70's. Americans will work more, more less while accumulating monumental debt.
What happened in the Soviet Union was that 90% of the work force were government and their bureaucracy...while 20% did the real work and wealth creation. It got top heavy and simply fell over...Same thing is happening in America. The wealthy and the politicians and bureaucrats are sucking the life out of the 20% who do real work that actually produces something. I can see America taking a dive to the bottom. The people that made them prosperous have had their jobs shipped over seas...now no one is creating real wealth...Playing the markets is not work...it's a game about nothing.
