I guess that's debatable. I have read that the IRS revenue is mostly from the middle class so that's a conflict. Of course, I did not verify this. This is more a question of the tax paid as a % of income. The 5% may pay 92% of the total but the middle class pays nearly 70% (or more?) of their income when considering Federal, State, Social Security, Medicare, Property, Sales and Use taxes. I don't know the corporate tax average %, in terms of a % of income, but I know it's nowhere near the middle class %. That being said, if anything, it speaks to the magnitude of corporate income.

Traitors or heros? Sandinistas or Freedom Fighters? Soldiers or terrorists? As usual, depends on who you ask.

For anyone who cares for a serious answer...

Clearly the worst atrocity committed on U.S. soil was the attacks of 9/11.

The single worst atrocity committed on U.S. soil by Americans has to go to the Oklahoma Bombing.

Second would be the Sand Creek Massacre committed against the Northern Cheyenne by troops under the command of John Chivington.

Brian, you're a dear. I've learned to love all varieties of Americans without forgetting our history. We're all connected. Have a beautiful day!

I live less than two miles from ground zero, the Greenwood District. Remember the GAP band? Greenwood, Archer and Pine.

Anyway, there is not an accurate count of the murdered. It certainly is not 39. No way, no how. It probably isn't as high as 3,000, either. 'They' say it's around 300, but I suspect it is higher than that.

I know we're off topic, but I wanted to add to that since I grew up very near that area. Did you know every last newspaper that contained news on this horrific attack was destroyed? None exist. I've heard many stories bout this riot and some that many people were buried in mass grave that is now beneath the Tracy Park tennis courts. <<< That may be more lore than fact. I've also heard or read that a woman stated she remembered seeing open top rail cars full of the dead being taken away. She was a child at the time.

An added note, as a kid in the 60's and 70's, the Greenwood District was nothing but old buildings in shambles. Today, it has been returned to a vital, but small business district. It's alive again.

Back on topic, it's really hard to choose just one thing as the worst or most heinous event in our history. There are many. Let' air them; teach them and never repeat them.
