I never thought I would agree with Barney Frank on anything, but for once in his pitiful life, he has it right. It's time to end the disastrous war on drugs once and for all. This is just a first step in a path to get the federal government out of our private lives.

A group of US representatives plan to introduce legislation that will legalize marijuana and allow states to legislate its use, pro-marijuana groups said Wednesday.

The legislation would limit the federal government's role in marijuana enforcement to cross-border or inter-state smuggling, and allow people to legally grow, use or sell marijuana in states where it is legal.

The bill, which is expected to be introduced on Thursday by Republican Representative Ron Paul and Democratic Representative Barney Frank, would be the first ever legislation designed to end the federal ban on marijuana.

I thought the same thing when I saw this. The world is definitely out of whack when I agree with old Barney.

Time to legalize it all.

What are the chances of this being given a vote? When could that happen? LEAP has been leading the way but nice to see Jimmy Carter, former general attorneys, and former world leaders calling for the end of the war on drugs. I'm all for it as I'm tired of my tax money being wasted on non-important "crime" and otherwise law abiding citizens getting locked up/lives ruined. The sooner the better......

It's going to happen. I don't know if it will happen right now though. People are stupid and have to beat over the head for many many generations before giving up something.

If this passes, I'd like to see a huge parade in which people dreseds as pot leaves walk down the street declaring victory. War's over. Drugs won. Seriously. Like many aging wars, this one lingered on because it dropped off the headlines. I think the overwhelming majority of this country is either ready to quit wasting money on this useless enterprise or would be if they were better informed about how much money it is costing them.

And with the end of the war on drugs will come a major reduction in wasteful government spending, and a significant reduction in government expenditure, coupled with a new source of tax revenue.

It won't be enough to get the fiscal situation of the US out of the crapper but will be a step in the right direction.

I hope this bill doesn't die in committee like previous bills Paul and Frank have introduced.

Yeah and right away it has to be taxed lol

Sorry our government can't handle the amount revenue it takes in now. No need to feed it more.

Right on Frank!
If a kid can't handle his allowance you don't increase it.

I agree with Paul and Frank.

I predict that within the next 10 years it will be legalized.
