I do not think gay or lesbian people are any better nor any worse than heterosexuals in anything, including raising children. They are not smarter nor are they dumber than other people, they are not more or less talented or clever then straight people. People - straight, gay, bi - are more or less alike in most things!
The only thing I will say is that gay men tend to dress better and are more fastidious about their personal hygiene than straight men, but this is only an observation on my part and I freely admit I can be wrong on this.
I am trying to understood why children who are raised by gay or lesbian families are better behaved, do better in school, and become more productive members of society than a lot children who grew up with a father and mother.
Any ideas why?
I haven't read any of the posts yet, but do you have any citations for this or are you just trolling?
I don't think a gay/lesbian couple could raise children "better" than a straight couple could. I think they might do a better job than a single parent, though.

That has not been our experience in liberal gayville, here in Texas.
Those kids are messed up. They are all bi-sexual... ALL. They are so confused and have absolutely no direction in life. Suicide rates among them are the highest of all teens, when put into that category.
Define Better and is that a biased opinion, with no facts to back your statement.
Quote from study: "... they were surprised to discover that children in lesbian homes scored higher than kids in straight families on some psychological measures of self-esteem and confidence, did better academically and were less likely to have behavioral problems, such as rule-breaking and aggression."

I only know one lesbian couple with children who are in their early 20s now. The girl is bi and the guy is overly masculine. Neither have any direction in life.

I'll take a scientific study of 84 families (154 women) conducted over the last 25 years over your ridiculous anecdotal "evidence" any day. None of my lesbian friends or family members have children who are homosexual OR abnormal in any way. I do have two gay cousins, but they each have straight parents. I wonder why...
Yes, and I would also like to see the study itself broken down. Were the families henpicked? Was the whole study a set up? 84 families isn't much. The gay parented households could have been the cream of the crop.
Looking at this fairly, adoptive parents (which I am imagining gay couple parents will likely fall into) are held to higher standards: economically, professionally, etc. Overall, their lives will be likely look better than your average parents.
So, that is a variable that would fall into the favor of ADOPTIVE gay parents, but isn't UNIQUE to them.
So, has the OP thought of that, or just trying to sneak one by?
