If she is wearing the "hijab" then allegedly she does so because according to islamic law muslims (or at least muslim women) must dress "modestly".. but she worked in a store that promotes clothing that is not "modest" in anyway. So that is a contradiction of her own principles.
lolwhut?? A hijab is not a burka, and A&F isn't Hooters.
The last time I went to A&F to buy clothes for my youngest daughter, the sales girls looked like whores and looked like they should have been on the street corner plying their wears instead of being in A&F.
If they start hiring people with scarfs then we won't buy there much more...since the people who work there are overall wearing the clothes and showing the style that is sold, and a scarf is not fitting that style....we are not into any muslim scarfs so it won't be our kind of store...
If the same girl would be dressed in the Abercrombie style (no scarf) that would make a difference for us...we don't care about religion, but we do care how the employees look, because Abercrombie sells a life style.
Btw would a muslim oriented style store like an American girl who is showing their belly button piercing? I think she would be fired, or a guy who looks like a rapper with his pants hanging down his butt...I don't think they will allow it...or one of my kids with a Jewish sign around their neck...I don't think that will happen...
If the wearing of the hijab is part of practicing her religion, is forcing her NOT to wear one not an infringement of her rights to freedom of religion?
if i owned a PRIVATE property and i told someone they're not wearing a turban or hijab on my property, then they're not wearing a turban or hijab on my property. they can wear it all they want off my property. that business is not public property. these businesses have dress codes. many of them won't allow you to wear a hat while working, i could just as easily make my religion up and say we wear hats. she's wrong, she won't win in court.

Wrong. Islam does not require women to cover themselves. The culture of countries that practice it do, but not the religion itself.
Seriously, how can you assume to know what her principles are? You know nothing about this woman.

Yea, you'd lose that. Discrimination. I know it hurts that you can't do that but, well, this is america, and your freedom doesn't extend to other people.

it's not discrimination. can i wear a hat to work if the dress code says no headwear? no. i guarantee you that the a & f dress code says no headwear.
and no, i wouldn't lose if i didn't allow a person in a hijab on my property. it's my property, and no matter what reason i have for wanting you off of it, you have to get off of it. i can discriminate all i want in my house. if a mexican walks up to my door and comes inside and i tell him to leave because i don't like mexicans, then he has to leave. the hiring process may be a little different from that in that they can't not hire someone because they're muslim, but the line is drawn there. they still have to follow the dress code. they don't have to hire someone who insists on breaking the dress code because they're religion supposedly requires it, and islam doesn't. plus i could just as easily invent my own religion wearing a hat with a hairy penis drawn on it, so does that mean they have to allow me to wear a hairy penis hat at work?

I disagree. A&F could have easily not hired her as they do the vast majority of people who apply.
Instead, they chose to hire her and now are changing their minds about her hijab.
It has now become an issue of discrimination. A&F screwed up royally on this one.

It doesn't automatically become discrimination if they change their policies. How is that any more discriminatory than if they didn't hire her in the first place?
They can change their dress code whenever they want.
