I admit, this is payback for my judgment of what I did not understand. I always said "if I looked like that, I'd never leave my house." To some extent, it's true still. But I've found that menopause, combined with certain drugs, combined with atypical depression will do the trick. And I swear that menopause thing has been just a killer in the weight dept.
BUT I digress. This thread is about discrimination and your thoughts on fat people.
With a few exceptions, the root cause of the obese is consuming more calories than your body actual needs. It IS really that simple.
Most of the obese people I see are busy stuffing their faces with food they shouldn't be eating.......while they pull along their equally overweight children...who are destined for a very painful life if they continue to emulate their weak-willed parents.
Lack of willpower, lack of personal pride, lack of self-esteem.
How little you know. I am the same person I was at size 4-6 that I am at this size. What happened was medication, menopause and a series of losses and atypical depression and brain dysfunction.
I've been every size of the rainbow. I know what it feels like to have doors held open for me at a size six. I also know what it feels like to be treated like crap at a much larger size. The difference is, I am STILL the same person on the inside. Circumstances led to one thing or the other.
So what gives and why is this?
I'm treated differently when I don't wear makeup and dress up when I go to the shopping mall.

Man, that sucks. Most never know how important your health is until you lose it.

Excuses.
It is a fact that at a certain age (somewhere around 40), it is much more difficult to lose/maintain a healthy weight.
It can be done if one watches their caloric intake measured against their activity level and how much their body actually needs.
Tell it to a bipolar person who is only helped by Depakote or Seroquel (I presume you haven't a clue about either of these drugs).
Did you read where I said there are a few exceptions - people that actually have a legitimate metabolic reason for weight gain?
It is really disturbing to see a 300lb person chowing down on high fat, high caloric foods..like ice cream, candy, cookies and mountains of mashed potatoes and cheeseburgers.
