2. Thanks to Texas's actions Americans can be executed overseas and the US Embassy can't intervene
A Mexican illegal was executed in 2008 and the same thing happened then.
3 years later another one.
Stop swallowing that koolaid being fed to you by the WH.
Dire repercussions they say. Did they mention this is not the first illegal executed by Texas ? No, I didn't think so.
Wake up and stop taking the WH at it's word as "the only truth".
Did you feel the same way when President George W. Bush - who was not a liberal, last I checked - did this same thing back in 2008 (and was also turned down)?
I won't be sorry to see this guy go, but I think it would be good for Congress to finally act and close this discrepancy so that we don't have to go through this again. This is not the first time that this has happened.
BTW -YES
Time to STOP using Bush as an excuse for Obama's stupidity. It's 2011.
Clinton isn't the default excuse for Bush's mistakes, why must Bush be the excuse for Obama ?

Care to name any verifiable cases in recent history where the State Dept was able to intervene and stop the execution of a US citizen convicted of a capital crime abroad? I can't even recall a recent instance of the State Dept procuring so much as a reduced sentence of a US citizen convicted of a crime in Mexico.
The criminal had ample time to raise objections during his lengthy incarceration. Obama's last minute efforts on his behalf were little more than attempted appeasement of the Mexican government to the detriment of our citizens and sovereignty and political grandstanding.
His (Obama's) request was rightfully denied by the Supreme Court.
I may have been a little harsh in my reply to your post. Granted Obama's daughters have nothing to do with this.
But Obama should consider what the parents and loved ones of the victim are going through before he abuses his power to intervene in this criminal's behalf.
