I'm interested in whether societies who are currently still living in what is considered a primitive way have any evidence of neanderthal genetics... I'm wondering if the interbreeding between modern humans & Neanderthals is what may have caused the rise to civilization, by mutations maybe?
A new paper published by Michael Hammer from the University of Arizona, however, provides evidence that homo sapiens not only interbred with Neanderthals in Eurasia, they also had sex with several species of our ancestors across the African continent. And they did it often. "We think there were probably thousands of interbreeding events," said Hammer. "It happened relatively extensively and regularly."
Basically, the frequency of Autism/Asperger's aproximates the genetic markers for the distribution of Neanderthals, and one theory is that the "social skills" and sophisticated "emotional communication" usually lacking on the Autism spectrum are the very thing that emerged in Homo Sapiens, giving them an evolutionary advantage. So that the Autism spectrum may simply be a "throwback" to earlier species of hominids, possessing less sophisticated abilities for "social networking", "teambuilding" and cooperative advantage.
Found more of em in the "integration" thread. Dragging their knuckles all over the place.
