The stats show that 219 people read the OP, but only 19 posted, and the exchanges devolved into the usual rightwing vs. leftwing reactionary duels. People are so predictable.

No surprise. Threads that deal with ideas or a bigger picture of any situation are not very popular. Most people are convinced that they alone are right all the time and all who don't agree are wrong.

I think a lot of people walk around with stuffed anger these days...Anger and frustration and disappointments galore...Their life hasn't gone the way they expected. Maybe they can't afford to retire...Maybe they feel stuck and trapped in jobs they hate...Maybe they lost a job they considered secure and can't find another decent paying job in their field....Maybe their grown kids had to move back home due to lack of employment or having to settle for low-paying service industry jobs or ???...All of the bottled-up anger and frustration causes people to look for scapegoats and someone to blame and fault for their misery....I also agree with the OP. I think we do tend to be left or right brain thinkers.

I guess people tend to take the "easy route" when it comes to trying to understand complex issues and problems...It takes "work" to try to look at many different sides..And sometimes we might have to reconcile "mixed feelings" about a certain issue. Everything doesn't always fall "neatly into place."

So you can add the "talking to a 12 year old" tag to the Left as well. Here's a 12 year old's answer that I particularly like from the Left:

Question: "What are we going to replace oil with"
Lefty Answer: " I don't know, but we have to get off oil NOW!"

Nothing is thought completely through. The Left runs completely on emotion and absolutely zero on common sense. Yes, there are dumb ideologues on the right too, but not nearly as many.
There are just as many overly emotional idiotic rightwingers out there. This point is proven on a post by post basis everyday on CD.

I think we have a responsibility to try to find new solutions to longstanding problems...Of course our ideas and theories have to be "tested." And this takes time and effort and patience...I don't think it's wise to assume that every idea that pops into our head is "workable" and perfect right off the bat..But "doing nothing" and sticking with the status quo isn't always wise or smart either...Our evolution depends on new inventions and finding "better ways" of doing things...Our "existing ways" aren't necessarily the "best." And every "new idea" isn't necessarily the "best" either...It takes time to "think things through" all the way. It's all part of a long process.

There are some genuine extremists here.
I haven't seen too many left-wing extremists, perhaps this isn't the kind of board they frequent.

I have seen quite a few right-wing extremist that can legitimately be called Fascists. They would deny the term, but if you compare what they say in their posts to Fascist ideology there is a 1:1 correlation.

You know who they are.

I don't enjoy being a "basher" and "slinging mud" at other people just because they have different views than I do...This seems like "kid stuff!" ("Bratty kid stuff!")...I like to have friendly and open-ended discussions...Discussions that make me feel proud of myself and proud of the way other people are conducting themselves too..."Bullies" yell and shout and label other people "dummies." I wouldn't feel good about myself if I acted this way!
