I tracked down an article on the study. It's actually $75k, not $70k.
Happiness study

It states that higher incomes do have an increasing impact on the satisfaction of your life, but not happiness.

I may live a [frugal] middle class lifestyle, but I assure you that *I* am anything but middle class.

LOL

here are the groupings:

24,999 and under: poor
25,000-99,999: middle
100,000 +: upper

not combined income, single income.

I'm okay with where I'm at. I just need enough money to live comfortable. I don't need a mansion, fancy cars, limousines, a jacuzzi, fancy clothes, extravagant vacations, etc.

Thank you for finding the study!

So according to the article, more money = more satisfaction. But more satisfaction =/= more happiness. I would think that those feelings would be more closely related.

I varies by location... For example, in NJ, 100K is nothing. But in AZ, 100k is ballin.

I am considered "rich". It is better than being poor, I can tell you that. However, I don't live a life too much different than most middle class people I know, with the exception of a bigger house (big deal). We don't take any more vacations and don't drive any better cars, nor do we wear expensive jewelery (with the exception of my Patek- which people think is a Timex anyway).

I think if I had more money than I do now, I would just get into more trouble.

I would worry about surviving. I no longer have the strength to ride really fast motorcycles. Just the desire.

OK - who is the Dress for Sucess chick?
