You have to hand it to Congress...somehow, they have managed to write a tax code that everyone thinks is unfair to them...
Yep, my favorite is the AMT, which turns all of your planning and computations inside out if you have a decent income. I find it interesting when folks plan, what makes folks so sure the Roth IRA won't be taxed at some level when they make the withdrawing at retirement?

That's what happens when you make a tax code more complicated than astro-physics laden with loopholes that only certain people can afford to research and exploit....
I don't think there are too many out there that wouldn't be for a simplified tax code.
No I dont comprehend the premise of your argument. What I recieve from the government is neither charity or a handout. It is an entitlement I benefit from after many years of paying a premium. If you want to start the discussion from there then I will listen to your complaints about government waste and inefficiency.
Well that's where you and I differ. I don't think that it should be an entitlement.
What you think is not at issue, my contract with your government is the issue. Since those of great wisdom before you decided they should tax my paycheck as an insurance against me and my family becoming a burden on your goverment I am just taking what is rightfully mine according to that contract.
With all of the tax dollars spent on education and programs that are specifically designed for children, I don't think people with children deserve a break over those without, as those without aren't adding to the cost.
I am married with two kids, and I agree.
Getting a tax break for a child is utterly ridiculous. The tax breaks should go to the single people who are paying all that school tax without ever benefiting from it. That's if we're going to give tax breaks at all.
I'm still a big proponent of a flat tax. No "fair tax", but a flat tax. It's the ONLY "fair tax". There should be no incentive at all, one way or the other, when it comes to having a family. It should be a life choice, not a tax consideration.
....in the meantime I'll gladly take the tax break simply because of the way everything else is balanced. If we're going to cut tax breaks for married people and parents, we need to balance out some other things as well.
That's my $1.50 (2 cents was a long time ago, before Bush)

That thought has crossed my mind on more than one occassion. I have no doubt that they'll attempt to do it. Still contributing though.....

Personally I support tax breaks for children. I do not support my tax dollars paying for the AIDS, alcoholics, drug addicts and illegal immigrants. I guess we all have tax dollars diverted to pay for something we are against.

Do you REALLY think you don't benefit at all from taxes used to educate the next generation?

You have to wonder how these people that are against children feel about their parents bringing them into the world.
