Will they get to live in subsidized base housing for married couples? Will the army pay for in vitro or surrogate moms for lesbians couples and/or adoption costs? What about counseling for same-sex domestic abuse? Sex change surgery in base hospitals, displacing critical needs, anyone?
SO many battles to fight so that we can continue to devote increasing chunks of the defense budget -- in times of declining revenue and inevitable cuts -- to absurd trivia.

[MOD CUT] Having two soldiers being able to live in subsidized military family housing rather than their subsidized own individual apartments....is sooooo expensive....LOL
And same sex domestic abuse?....No more common than hetero domestic abuse....And nobody has asked for sex change operations..... [MOD CUT] .....LOL

Reason: personal attack
There is no basis for the FEDS to recognize homosexual marriage.
So this rule makes sense.
Go get married somewhere off the base on STATE jurisdiction. Not on federal land.
How can a Chaplain on the base conduct a gay marriage on FEDERAL LAND?
Go have a tantrum over something else this subject is ridiculous.
Make the cluelessness stop!
Hint -- same-sex marriages are legal in the District of Columbia. That's federal territory, [MOD CUT] . People get married on the National Mall all the time. That's federal property, [MOD CUT]
Do you think states -- any states -- 'recognize' birthday parties? Bar Mitsvahs? Baptisms? Yet these very things are sometimes performed on state lands, such as in state parks. Now -- keep thinking, very hard here -- by your logic, that should be banned because no states 'recognize' those things.

Reason: rude
Isn't that part and parcel of what gays are constantly screaming about, "partner can't get federal benefits, etc".
Well, the reason why is because FEDS DON'T RECOGNIZE GAY MARRIAGE.
You need to ask yourself, where in the USA would a marriage by a gay couple be recognized if they were married on fed property? NOWHERE!
It's a state issue not federal.
Fight for the recognition by the FEDS, take it to the Supreme Court. Then get married on a military base.
You are arguing for an outcome you agree with. It has nothing to do with legal points if this legislation was passed and challenged.
Gay soldiers are allowed in the military now. You need to accept that. Under full faith and credit clause of the Constitution. You cannot single out a group for denial of benefits on a whim. If they are allowed in the military...they are allowed to be married on base just like everybody else.
Knuckle draggers and mouth breathers will need to accept this
It's almost comical to see the "gay panic" that continues among many in Congress. I wonder if they even bother to consider the Constitution when they vote on things like this. Doesn't look like it.
Please clarify which way you 'lean' regarding this issue? It's not clear what you support?
I wonder how many billions of dollars and man hours are spent by people obsessing over what consenting adults do?
We get it, your homophobics, leave the rest of us out of your obsession please.
