We've all heard from the moonbattery that we need to raise taxes. Well, look at Canada's NDP platform for job creation. And they are to the left of the Democratic Party here.
For those that don't know, Canada has 3 main parties. The Liberals (center-left), the NDP (left), and the Conservatives (centrist). The Liberals are like our Democratic Party and the Conservative Party is mostly composed of Mid-Atlantic/New England type Republicans while the NDP resembles the leftist parties of Europe such as the French Socialist Party. The Conservative Party is the majority party while the NDP is the Official Opposition party and the historically large Liberal Party was sent to the fringe.

Quote:
2.1 Reducing the Small Business Tax Rate
And the slap in the face:
Quote:
Setting the Corporate Tax Rate at Below the USA's
We will keep Canada’s corporate tax rate competitive by ensuring that our combined federal/provincial Corporate Income Tax rate is always below the United States’ federal corporate tax rate.
Seems like when it comes to business, the Canadian social democrats in the NDP have more tax sense than the Democrats do. Good job, Democrats. What do you and your party want to do? Raise taxes on small businesses and increase the corporate tax rate.

There is no equivalent to U.S. Republicans in Canada. They don't have a party that represents these ideologues. Canadian republicans put practicality about ideology. Canadian Republican looks more like a Clinton Democrat.
It's very difficult to compare Canadian politics to that of the USA. The entire dynamic is just so totally different. We do not have political dogma here in any sence of the word. For example, the present government is very much to the right as far as a Canadian government goes. This right leaning government bailed out GM, brought in a huge stimulus plan to fight the recession and has had the largest deficit in Canadian history. Do you think they liked doing those things? WEll I can tell you that they realy really didn't like to do it but did it because they are pragmatic rather than dogmatic and realized that these things were the right thing to do regardless of their position on the political spectrum.
This same government that is wildly free enterprise also stepped in and prevented a perfectly legal takeover of Potash Corp. This would have been the largest mining deal in history. A private mining company was buying a largely publicly owned company and a right wing government stepped in and stopped the deal. Why would that be? It's because regardless of their position from a philosophy standpoint they realized this deal would not be in the best interests of Canadians and so therefore they stepped out of their stated position and did the right thing.
Look at the plan just announced by the president of france. He is making cuts to shift france where the goverment invests its moeny. Bascially from consumers of wealth( scoial progrmas) that only consume wealth and do not return more wealth. The British have already had a white paper study that will shift savings for retirement from government soical porgrams to more person savings incentives.his administration is doing quiter the opposite or really nothing at all. Not even a budget in like 80s month of control by democratic congress. The only budget voted on by senate is Obam's which got zero votes.

Just so you know, OP, what you stated is probably the only business-friendly piece in their entire platform. The rest is all made up of social, welfare, family-friendly programs... and also weird plans like putting pensioners ahead of bondholders in case of bankruptcy, eventually increasing taxes (because of the burden of the increased spending), increase in the national value-added tax, etc.
Okay, I'm not a tax expert, but aren't corporate income taxes different than personal income taxes? Usually we debate the top rate for income taxes.
corporations are different from proprietorships. a proprietor usually files their business income as personal income, which is a different set of tax rules compared to a corporation.
