UI should be cut off at 3 months, max. It isn't the government's responsibility to give you a job. Stop watching American Idol at night and work to have a backup plan when you ARE employed, and you won't have a problem if you lose your job.

If you really want a job and work for it, you will find one.

WRONG!! This is an EXPENSE paid for by employers. The money going to deadbeats who refuse to take whatever job is availble should go to retooling the factories to make them more efficient.

UI needs to be revamped so that it is ONLY paid if the company goes out of business so the workers can find other employment. It should not go to people fired or layed off.

What will people do for income when all the jobs are outsourced or replaced with capital intensive automation? What will people do when there are no jobs available?

In the meantime keep some economic demand by continuing unemployment payments indefinitely. Pay for it with a special tax on executive bonuses and speculative profits.

There will always be opportunities to create jobs...it may mean people have to be willing to move to take them. Why should someone be asked to pay for those who worked hard to get ahead, ..nope, no socialism for me...

Unemployment benefits are a form of stimulus because the people receiving them generally MUST spend them. When they expire, profits will go down and our economy could falter again.
Since the United States wants as many of its citizens as possible to be dependent on government assistance, you can bet that the UI benefits will be extended or replaced by a different government program.

No worries.

I hope that nothing happens to you and your family. With your mentality, the fall would be TOO large to handle for you.

UI is only paid for by employers for the first 26 weeks. All the extensions beyond that are paid by taxpayers. By the way, go to the unemployment forum and let them know they are deadbeats. Most of them are willing to take any job but cannot get one because of their age. Passing judgment on people who lost their job through no fault of their own is ignorant.

dont care, its not the taxpayers job to support those who dont WANT jobs

outsourcing...why.... because of liberal high tax policies

there could be easily be millions of jobs..but the americans are not WILLING to take them

remember the days when there was an elevator operator....or an actual telephone operator (not some automated system)....or a streetsweeper....or the Charles chips guy...or the Fuller brush man....or the saw/knife sharpening guy...remember when there was a thing called a diaber service(before we entered the "disposable world").....or a typewriter/business machine repair shop...or an appliance repairperson(try getting a VCR fixed...it costs more than a new one...welcome to the disposable world)

half our problems are from the fascist globalist liberal policies

why work, when the 'government' will take care of you...who cares if its just a small amount...its FREE..........and I dont have to work for it,,,why because work is a four letter word to liberals
.

you hear quotes like... ."""""""".love my welfare check, love to cash it an get my nails done..who cares where the money comes from, I got mine,"""""""

There is a reason why the unemployment rate is high...companies are not hiring in large numbers. Yes, there are companies hiring...but guess what, they have more applicants than positions.

Let's not also forget that some people are OVER qualified.
