For those who are losing weight and can't eat - calming nausea and munchies are the point.
My grandfather was a saint. A child of the depression, he fostered orphans despite having 8 kids of his own and two adopted while living in a three bedroom house while working three jobs with no car. According to his children and almost anyone who knew him, the man practically walked on water. When I was an infant he was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Once 6'2 and athletic, he lost 60 lbs and became frail. My uncle, his oldest son, convinced him to smoke marijuana and it saved his life. He gained some weight and actually responded to his chemo. For two years he recovered, and in that time he and my grandmother babysat me every morning. He taught me to swim, to throw a baseball, and read to me so much that I learned to read before I was three years old. I still have one of the books he read memorized word for word, almost thirty years later. In 1982 he decided that he wasn't going to use marijuana anymore, in my opinion (I was young at the time, so this is hindsight) because of guilt caused by anti-drug propaganda. He quickly wasted away and died within two months.
I treasure the time I spent with my grandfather, and feel that it could have lasted for a longer time had he continued to use marijuana. To say I feel strongly about the issue of medical marijuana is an understatement of epic proportions. It infuriates me when people say that the people aided by medicinal marijuana just wanted to get high. If any anti-drug crusaders went through the experience that my family did with my grandfather, I am completely convinced that they would unanimously have a change of heart.
It's not a very effective drug for pain management.
Having gone to pain specialists nearly ten years with my wife I wouldn't say it's not effective. I belong to a site whose members have her condition, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy also called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. I posed the question whether pot helped with their pain? I would say a third said it didn't, one said all it did for him is he got stoned and hungry. But well over 50% of responders said it did benefit them especially with muscle pain and twitches. Also with this condition many lose their appetites because of the kind of meds they take. Pot, of course, solves this issue. But like most health conditions what helps me will not help you and that is especially true with RSD-CRPS
Which is the cause and which is the result? Nice or pot?
Do only nice people smoke or does smoking make average people nice?
I was talking about if pot was dangerous or not to people, which it isn't. I'm talking about frequest users and when they are actually high. Side effects are happiness, the munchies, sleepy, etc. The result of smoking and effects during smoking aren't dangerous. People don't get caught murdering someone while on pot, because pot doesn't control people into making bad mistakes.
And no, not everyone who smokes pot is nice and I'm not sure if pot could make someone 'nice'... makes you relaxed though. If you smoke a lot, there could be long term effects, but I wouldn't know... I'm not sure what you mean by "pot" being the result. Pot doesn't control someone though; man-made drugs can do that. If you have a negative mind set then you might have a bad experience with pot. Plus, you have to have self-control and good willpower if you don't want to trip while in public.
