Word is just coming down that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has vetoed the largest single mountaintop removal permit in West Virginia history.
Oh, the horror! Mountains with tops on! What will our grandchildren think of us, that we left them such a world?

CHU: Well, the recent spike in gasoline prices following that huge spike in 2007, 2008 is a reminder to Americans that the price of gasoline over the long haul should be expected to go up just because of supply and demand issues. And so we see this in the buying habits of Americans as they make choices for the next car they buy.
You don't think gas will go up due to supply and demand issues? Seems pretty damn obvious to me - we've burnt the easily available oil already, and now there's 1 billion Chinese and 1 billion Indians who'd like to get in the game.
The way the EPA enacts policy as a law making agency, is the problem.
They are not our elected officials, yet they make and enforce policies.
Their intent started out as a good idea, but it has got out of control, like every government agency, that is making laws on a whim.
They should come up with their ideas and then present them to the senate, where the States are suppose to be represented(wink). It should go through the Senate and the House, like every law should be, and the President with the last say.

Media Mattersanalyzed television news guests who discussed the Environmental Protection Agency's role in regulating greenhouse gas emissions from December 2009 through April 2011. Driven largely by Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network, results show that in 76 percent of those appearances, the guest was opposed to EPA regulations while 18 percent were in favor. Of the appearances by elected officials, 86 percent were Republican. Only one guest in 17 months of coverage across nine news outlets was a climate scientist -- industry-funded Patrick Michaels.
Gee, I wonder why people are always spouting nonsense on message boards, and where they get their "information" from?
In the case of CO2 regualtions it will effect every facet of out economy, it's hardly something to be considered micromanaging. The Clean Air Act, brought to you by Bush1 in case you didn't know, was never intended to regulate CO2 emissions. I think old wacky Nancy said it best:
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Wednesday that Congress, not the Obama administration, needs to address global warming.
Asked if she wants the Obama administration to address climate change through regulations if Congress fails to pass a bill this year, Pelosi responded, "It has to be done by statute."
..... since she is no longer in power I'm sure her tune has changed.
