I love how people can be championed by cranks until they violate their concept of ideological purity, then the wingnuts turn on that person like a pack of wolves and claim that "HE WAS NEVER ONE OF US!"

It's as predictable as the cycles of the moon. Hell, I already pointed out how the Tea Party was going to consume itself once people starting living in the real world (after election) instead of this lala land where things to exist like they wished for it. Ron Paul was sort of the first casualty, when the Tea Party turned on him during the election.

It's pretty obvious that he's trying to give the House an excuse to say they "conceded" something to Obama/the Dems, even though they've conceded virtually nothing.

Everyone knew the debt ceiling would be raised. Everyone. Now, McConnel can make the false claim that the GOP actually governs.

Actually,I am glad to see some compromise. I cannot believe they gave Obama everything he wanted. So, I suspect, common sense prevailed. I know that is an outrage, but ticking off the crazies is usually called governance.

Actually neither side got anything. This has nothing to do with a budget only the debt ceiling. What they are doing is pretty much doing what they have always done. They are basically seperating the budget from the debt ceiling. The political motivation is that they can say Obama raised the debt ceiling and not them since they don't have to vote for it. It is probably the only way out of the mess.

It's not a cave, it"s following instructions from the money people on Wall Street and other Big Businesses. I believe Obama asked them to step in, it appears they have.

It's a trap and quite a clever one because if he takes the offer then it will be used against him in the election. "Obama raised the debt ceiling 20 gazillion dollars...blah, blah".

If he declines which I suspect is what will happen he's going to be seen as not wanting to take responsibility for it.

Either choice he loses... LOL.

That is absolutely right. It is nothing but a political ploy designed to do nothing but embarrass the other party and save face.
