in other words you have no clue do you? if you expand the tax base, you are creating jobs. that means MORE tax revenue to the government. it also means a higher GDP. the "poor" wont be paying any more taxes, there will be more of them paying taxes. and the tax burden on the "rich" will increase.
Right now federal and state government are paying the unemployed their unemployment compensation, and some are collecting WIC and Food Stamps, and they may even be on Medicaid. If they get a job, not only are they now paying taxes into the system and they may be on their employer's health insurance plan, which means we no longer are burdened with paying them unemployment compensation, WIC, Food Stamps or Medicaid, etc...

again revenues to the government INCREASED after the bush tax cuts were instituted. as for the laffer curve, it shows quite clearly that you can raise taxes, and tax revenues as a percent of the GDP will be about the same as lower tax rates. what happens in that when your raise taxes the economy slows down, and the GDP drops. lower taxes, the economy speeds up and the GDP goes UP.

Sounds like an opinion from someone on the extreme. We differ on what is an essential program...if someone wants a program let them pay for it..not ask others to pay for it.
Yo! ! ! I like that. Congress can pass a bill to organize a service for those who choose to participate. Said person can sign up at a designated website using their usual citizen ID#, whereupon they will learn their share of the cost which would be applied to their tax obligation. As more people sign up, the individual cost will be reduced. Of course, Congress will need to authorize non-government agencies who can provide the same service as an option to the purchaser.
Well, seeing how many apparently believe they can 'pray away the gay', perhaps they plan on paying for the military complex by mystical incantation.
Military payment is our first priority, after the debt payment.
More taxation is NOT the answer. More intelligent and responsible Congressional and White House politicians rather than less intelligent and irresponsible politicians playing political games, the latter of which only serve individual egos (in other words, narcissistic idiots), is the answer!
A one-term strong and responsible (to our Constitution and personal responsibility rights of freedom) politician is worth far more than one that plays games to get re-elected over and over...the latter is worthless in the long run and should be avoided at all costs if we care about the future of America.
I ask this as a registered independent who leans to the right. It appears the GOP leadership was asleep during macroeconomic class. In order to close deficits you need a growing economy, an increase in taxes and a decrease in spending. Why is the GOP only focused on one aspect? Why are they so adamant about the wealthy not paying taxes that existed prior to Bush takin office? Will they really throw this country into chaos for ideology? Also where do Cantor's interests really lie with America or Israel? Inquiring minds want to know.
Unless you are one of the 50%, we already pay LOTS of taxes.
I suggest the defense of the country is number one priority of the federal governments responsibilty. That includes funding both miltary and law enforcement.
Then in World War II all the bombing of Germany wasn't a form of invasion. From some of the destruction I saw around major cities in Germany in 1955 and 1956 wasn't a form of invasion. I bet many Germans back then would have to disagree with your definitions.

Great empires come to an end because they over extend. Bring the troops home to defend our borders like the Constitution says. Lives saved, tons of money saved.
The answers are easy enough. It only becomes difficult when you continue to treat the symptoms instead of the cause.
