They plan on throwing the U.S. economy into a depression screwing everyone around the globe even sooner because they didn't de-leverage fast enough.

Yes, actually the US will default if the debt isn't raised. You are way too naive.
Why? We still have tax revenue coming in. It is up to Treasury to decide which bills to pay. Service on the debt only accounts for 10% of tax receipts. If we default on the debt it is only because Treasury decides to.
Many of our problems has been brought on by "caring" what dying socialist countries think of us. Love Texas' famous saying: Don't mess with us! If we as a people could get it together enough to believe it and live it, maybe we would get more respect. Whatever happened to "carrying a big stick"?
Visiting the UK a few years ago I caught a TV documentary on the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal.
The Republicans were depicted as being the bad guys deliberately sabotaging Clinton's presidency.
Yes, the rest of the world is watching this embarrassing debt ceiling nonsense, and it is growing dismayed.

The US is holding the entire world hostage, and it's the Republicans that are playing with fire.
Hard to accuse the Germans (who are no fans of fiscal profligacy) of being motivated by politics, or of having some inherent reason to attack Republicans. This is just the reality of what they're doing.
While I don't think Democrats are much better, the world views Republicans as the worst maniacs who are holding the world hostage with their childish antics.
