Norway gunman expected to plead not guilty to terrorism charges in court | World news | The Guardian
This incident is beginning to have a Beer Putsch feel to it. He is pleading not guilty simply to get face time in court much like Hitler did. Then he'll be released to a hero's welcome from his far-right buddies.

The whole thing doesn't make much sense. We either write him off as a Palin supporter or a raging lunatic. Palin supporter because Americans tend to be very myoptic in politics and the world. He doesn't write like a raging lunatic and it really doesn't make sense that he did this act because he doesn't seem stupid enough to believe it helped his cause or would have helped his cause.
I don't think this guy is crazy at all. His actions are in line with his writings.

According to the Norwegian law professor Ståle Eskeland, it is likely that Breivik will spend his entire life in prison.

And he already says he's a martyr for some cause, and it might not be his cause alone.

This might not be one lone lunatic in one lone country and Americans probably are just as ignorant about what's building up in Europe as we were back when Hitler's movement was growing because we simply don't pay attention or think everything is in terms of American society.

We also are clueless on how to prevent such movements, believing that cramming Islam down these peoples' throats further will be the easy answer.

I think he is an extremist but honestly as much as I hate his actions and will never condonne them, something like what he did will happen in this country pretty soon and in part is due to the violence the muslims have been acting on for years. This country's inability to deal with that is a ticking bomb and will provoke people like that guy.

This country is doomed.

I personally believe muslims do not belong on the west. They do not want to addapt.

Interesting. This far right stuff in Europe is pretty different:

But the EDL is not a simple rerun of previous far-right street groups. On each demonstration there is a smattering of non–white faces and one of the group's leaders is Guramit Singh, a British-born Sikh. The organisation's core support appears to be young white men who are often fuelled by drink and sometimes drugs. But its Islamophobic message seems to have acted as a lightning rod for a strange coalition – from rightwing Christians who see it as being on the frontline in the "global fight against Islam" to gay rights activists.

At the front of the EDL demonstration in Bolton in March, among the banners decrying Islam, was a man holding up a pink triangle. He looked nervous when I asked him what he was doing there. "This is the symbol gay people were made to wear under Hitler," he said. "Islam poses the same threat and we are here to express our opposition to that."

The problem I see is that these Muslims moving in to take over other countries can cling to their culture and nationalism but the peoples' whose countries are being taken over aren't supposed to want to hold onto their cultures.

It kind of pushes them into a corner. They're being told to submit to Islam or else.
