Uh..... because last time I checked, that's the title of this thread??

The %, even it is was true, of the income pie that unions get, is miniscule, compared to the top 2% who have seen their income skyrocket, while everyone elses has been stagnant, I've seen too many people now, being offered jobs at 10 dollars and hour and saying how that's how much they made starting out 20 years ago....you mean to tell me the COL is the same now as it was 20 years ago?

Income really is a function of wehat the marklet palce thins your worth. When we have so mnay on dependent governmrnt programs as compensation and when that isn't counted it makes a difference. Plus the changing economy i the last few deacdes emans mnay more don't have the skills of what is required to make eve middle income. One thing you will never convenience me of is that the standard of living regardless hasn't continued to climb. Some of its based on easy credit which also has a effect on income distribution.More and more are finacing more and more which goes thru the financial markets and actually effects not only that but the real wealth. We also have seen people not sving like they did 20 years ago ;building wealth ;';reducing cost from paying no interest. Without wealth its hard to get ahead and just is a spiraling cost.Add crdit card interest rates and what mnay pay;if it where not for many things not costing much more than in past ;peoples standard of living would really go down. If I had had my ending salary when I started work :I'd be rich by now instead of middle. class. Its really surprising what starting early to build wealth can mean compared to spending as it comes in and then paying interest on most everything.Lst I check poverty started at 18000 a year and did not include any governamnt subsidy in that figure. We all are subsidised to a extent if one isold enouhg to remmeber when you paid for mnay cost than now.

Income disparity has gotten worse. Simply put it is an extreme imbalance.

These don't lead to good things or evidence signs of health.

This is not small business mind you but the big boyz, the multi-nationals, the monopolies, the movers and shakers.
Small business is just as screwed as regular employees.
The bigger issue from my view is the govt's controlling stock shares in the mega corps, through corporate governance. From what I can see they are the biggest shareholder's above anybody else. They benefit from shorting in the market, as well. Nowadays it is so hand in glove they aren't even barely feigning some kind of distinction.

This is why they like outsourcing and making Big Bus profitable. On the other side it is also why they may not be real interested in paying out any benefits to you when the time comes. This is what Big Corps do. Maximize profit and minimize expenses.

quick question, have those individuals done anything about their situation? No.. then no, I have no respect for them..

YOU are responsible for YOU..

No, you are wrong. The title of this thread is "Why has the income disparity in the US skyrocketed in the past 20 years."

So, why do you care about the income gap? Why do you care what other people make?

Default Why has the income disparity in US skyrocketed in the past 20 years?

The BS policy sold as "trickle-down" was in reality "suck it up" economics. There are still some millionaires out there who lose sleep over the possibility that someone somewhere still has a dollar that they won't get, though.
