The blocking high we have had is not abnormal. The temps that are being reported are not the outrageous and as was pointed out, did not break many records unless one deviously attempts to manipulate the issue which is why the argument of "heat index" is being misused at times to claim records that have not been made.
Wrong. 2100 records so far in July have been matched or broken. Not heat index records. Plain old temperature readings.
The topic is not "climate change" in a vague term. It is the heat wave, which is a more specific topic in its relation to "climate change".
Ocean Acidification is a very specific sub topic just as heat waves are. As I said, if you wish to discuss this issue specifically, start a thread concerning it.
OR...
specifically relate your information directly to that of the topic "heat waves" in your own words rather than being insulting with links that call people deniers and condescendingly dismiss them.
From the OP...

Of course, when they add in the stupid "heat index", the hyperventilating gets even worse. This is just another example of the ridiculous sensationalism of the media, with the underlying meme of "global warming" of course.
Was about to type it all out myself, but this basically explains the whole thing:

It's ridiculously difficult to set an all-time record high, and the heat wave isn't going to affect all stations equally. So 0.4% over a week is an astonishingly high number.
It's obvious that they have an agenda to make it look like global warming isn't happening; that the heat wave is all manufactured media hype. The ironic thing is that you can't blame an individual heat wave on global warming anyway, so their argument is a moot point.
Obviously the underlying issue of the OP is to debunk climate change and the effects of it and the issue of it being caused by humans or not. My question is how would one debunk the acidification of the oceans because the two are intertwined as any intlligent person is well aware of.
you mean the very minor shifts in very limited areas of the PH of the oceans?
"Ocean Acidification" as a term is really an inflamatory exageration. The oceans are not becoming acidic. that would be IMPOSSIBLE.
However, because of CO2 rise, and the ocean's ability to absorb CO2, yes there is a minor shift that has taken place in some areas. NOT all areas and none of the scientific literature proves this to be seriously dangerous. There have been some studies using spurious methods to lower PH that suggest some danger however, when those metods are put to the test, they do not reflect what is happening in nature.
and that has nothing to do with temerature. different subtopic entirely.
However:
This thread is about a heat wave in the summer of 2011. It is not supposed to be a thread about the very real and increasingly well documented changing climate.
I have read LOTs on forcing. and guess what, the forcing predicted by the models doesnt exist in the actual record.
It is a complicated subject, but not one single paper exists that shows full proof that forcing is causeing a spiraling of temperature. In fact, there is record of Pro-AGW scientists talking to each other about the fact that they cannot find it and how unfortunate that is.
Wrong. 2100 records so far in July have been matched or broken. Not heat index records. Plain old temperature readings.
2100 out of how many?
