One of the very first articles from ABC after Hasan was identified as the shooter. Not one mention of "Muslim" or "Islam". In fact the author tries to make the reader sympathtic towards hasan wriiting that "he was harrased after 9/11"

Fort Hood Shooting by Army Doctor Nidal Malik Hasan Leaves 12 Dead - ABC News

A 32-year-old Norwegian was arrested and charged with terrorism, but police have not officially released his name. Local media has identified the man as Anders Behring Breivik, who has been described as a right-wing Christian fundamentalist

Police aren't ruling out more suspects in Norway attacks - CNN

One of the first articles from CNN about the Oslo shootings. The Norwegian police didn't even officially release the shooter's name and the media is already jumping over each other to identify him as a Christian fundamentalist.

See what I mean?

Sorry. They accurately reported what Gen. Cone said. And it was General Cone who released the Allhua Akbar statement the next day. YOu want the MSM to makes this up. Read the rest of the early stuff. Remember the second gunman?

There were a half dozen reports early on in the Norway thing reporting that an Islamic Group had taken responsibility. I found out about the Right Winger early on by reading the Norwegian press who got it straight pretty quick.

Breivik was captured alive and well, in fact he surrendered without a shot to police. And then began explaining his reasons. The official police statement might have waited to identify him by name to the media, but obviously someone divulged it unofficially.

Hasan was seriously wounded, taken to the hospital, plus he's military so the Army would try to keep a tighter lid on it initially, until a statement was prepared.

The false sense of grievance from some people here on C-D resembles Breivik's.

What a twisted memory... you are actually trying to convince someone that the press was more pro a Muslim and less so a Christian.... right....

Has the heat wave been that bad in Boston?

Seems to be the general consensus no one remembers this incident the way you do... All you heard about Ft Hood was the guy was a muslim.

religious extremists are all dangerous... no matter what they wrap themselves in.

I agree with the OP. The media went out of its way to avoid calling Hasan what he was, an Islamic terrorist. This same media who is only too happy to describe the Norway bomber as a "Christian fundamentalist". Anybody who thinks there is no double standard is avoiding the truth.

Why Won’t Mainstream Media Call Hasan a ‘Muslim Terrorist’?

Media avoiding Hasan-Muslim link

Why Won't Obama Call Fort Hood Killer a Terrorist?

Islam missing from Pentagon's report on Ft. Hood terrorist

Now after the shooting in Norway, the mainstream media jumped at the chance to point out the shooter was a Christian fundamentalist when there was absolutely no evidence at that point that 1) he was Christian and 2) he was motivated by Christian beliefs. It is still not clear right now whether he is a Christian fundamentalist or just a Norwegian nationalist.

This is more evidence of bias in the media.
I don't recall media not mentioning Hasan's religion and affiliation. I and everyone else, knew that he is a devout Muslim as soon as his identity was revealed. Also, Hasan was in the army and not many knew him personally, while the Norwegian shooter had an internet presence and expressed himself freely. However, the "media" is not uniform. There are reporters, newspapers and commentators from all sides. In the current environment things cannot be kept secret.
That said, regardless of their religions, both these individuals are seriously deranged. They are not motivated by their religions, but by their mental illness!

Obama won't call the Fort Hood shooter a terrorist??

From the Fact Sheet: National Strategy for Counterterrorism

Al-Qa’ida adherents—individuals, sometimes American citizens, who cooperate with or are inspired by al-Qa’ida—have engaged in terrorism, including the tragic slaughter of our service members at Fort Hood in 2009

Too funny! Did you read these links?

Link #1:

SALLY QUINN, WASHINGTON POST: There's been so much focus on the fact that he's a Muslim when the focus should be on the fact that the military did not pick up on the fact that this guy was emotionally disturbed.

Link #2 offers no hard evidence.

Link #3 is asking for Obama to call the guy a terrorist, has nothing to do with Islam.

Link #4 is about the Pentagon, not the media.

Lmao.....even if the OP happens to be off about the whole Hasan thing there is no disputing bias in the media. Its rampant ...no matter which outlet you choose. That's a fact.

I don't remember that but I remember this.

The Ulsterman Report: Obama’s Disgusting Disparity – Fort Hood -vs.- Tucson | Newsflavor

"* In an interview given to ABC the night prior to the Fort Hood memorial, President Obama refused to use the term terrorist – and even dismissed the attack with the following: In a country of 300 million people…There are going to instances, uh, in which, uh, an individual cracks.**** A week later it was being reported Obama was urging fellow Democrats in Congress to delay investigations into the Fort Hood shootings until preliminary investigations had been completed, further justifying the criticism that Republicans and some Democrats were stating regarding the president’s rather nonchalant attitude over the deadly attack by a Muslim extremist on an American military base."
