When I was trying to work things out with my ex who is from Arkansas, I tried to find work there in1999. I was desperate for work and applied for work at a Walmart in the town of Cabot. Though there were plenty of blacks shopping there, no blacks were working there. The manager sat me down for an interview and when I remarked that I didn't see any black people working there he said, "hmmm, not if we can help it." he then gave me this strange look and said, "you're not from around these here parts are ya?". When my ex gave me a tour of her home town, she pointed out the hanging tree. I asked when was the last hanging at the hanging tree. She said not to worry since there hasn't been one since the 1970s. This was 1991.
Not to highjack but I can believe you.
"Ni66er Dave"
That's what they called him at Wal-Mart. His managers didn't seem to care
But as the weeks passed, the women continued to pronounce their hatred for "that ni66er Dave." "The first shift heard about it, the second shift heard about it," says Thomas. "People would come up to me and say, 'Are you hearing these things they're saying about you?'" When he asked managers if they were following up, they'd simply reply, "We're handling it in our own way."
Then there's the infamous Cleveland Heights incident. When $1,000 went missing in 1999, a manager conducted bathroom searches of 37 black employees. No white worker was questioned.
The whole out of wed lock canard is just that. If the issue is her pregnancy then why "co-valedictorian"? If that is the issue she shouldn't be honored at all (as foolish as that would be).
I'm an idiot but I'll help some people out nevertheless.
Anyone who should by all rights be a valedicorian ought to be the school's valedicorian. When I was in high school I was the valedicorian for a few minutes, but then the alarm went off and I woke up.
I've heard that [mostly] in the South there are racially separate proms, homecoming queens, etc. A lot of people are aghast at this fact. Apparently no one seems to realize that there are Afrocentric schools operating right out in the open. They have websites and everything. So, two racially separated proms at the same school shouldn't be that shocking. As for the black girl who deserved to be the valedicorian, her family ought to sue. We need to say good-bye to racial separation and segregation, be it a school's lone valedicorian, or a whole school.
morgan freeman had a brilliant documentary on black/white proms. he actually paid for a united prom in ole miss.
guess who was against that? the white parents of course.
the kids wanted one prom though.
you have to remember the parents of these kids are the same ones who were attacking the freedom riders and pouring drinks and condiments on black women because they dared to sit down at a restaurant.
I did not have time to read all 25 pages but I will ask my friends that are teachers at that school what the real story is. I grew up 7 miles south of McGehee and they were our main sports rivals.
It tells me that you have your blinders on so tight.
You certainly didn't read either of my posts in this thread.
Wrong-o, bub.

The guy in question(the principal), is a staunch Progressive supporter.
Yes, Progressive and the KKK go hand in hand since the days of Woodrow Wilson.
You didn't see that coming, did you??
The guy is a Progressive and is not shy about it.file:///C:/Users/Jack/AppData/Local/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image001.gif (broken link)

Pin the blame, squarely where it belongs.
Picking the winners and the losers, is not a Conservative policy what so ever.
The guy is a Progressive Demwit, and the OP tries to pin this on Conservative thinking.
Framing someone for a crime, is about as low as it gets, for the scum of the earth.
Again, your comments try to deflect blame for what happened, but you don't criticism the apparent racism of this decision.
val·e·dic·to·ri·an
[val-i-dik-tawr-ee-uhn, -tohr-] Show IPA
–noun
a student, usually the one ranking highest academically in a school graduating class, who delivers the valedictory at the commencement exercises.
Why do people do ANYTHING to NOT see this for what it is when it's staring them in the face. are people so unable to lack empathy for anyone with a different trait from then and NOT able to put themselves in their shoes that not matter what they can't feel injustice done to others?
It would be nice if at least one of the regular conservative CD posters here would at least give lip service to the idea that there would be something wrong with this if she were denied because of her race.
In the absence of a single comment to that effect, my own opinion of what the conservatives around here think seems to be confirmed.
Awesome lesson to teach your kid. When things don't go your way, sue.
Actually it is.
If you think you have been wronged then you should stand up for yourself.
If EVERY other valedictorian in the schools history had the highest grade and this girl is being denied the honor then for some reason she clearly being discriminated against it could be race, or the fact she is a teen mother or some other reason.
If you look up the word "Valedictorian" here is what you find:
Quote:
valedictorian - the student with the best grades who usually delivers the valedictory address at commencement
Being against teenage pregnancy is not being bigoted. No one looks kindly toward people who get knocked up before they are 18.
I suppose you'd rather see her on welfare than being a college graduate with a good paying job, simply because she is a teen mother.
My what an enligtening point of view you have!
I suppose this is an example of Christian compassion that Conservatives are known for!
