The rich are devastating the middle class by forcing the middle class taxpayer to fund the interest on money borrowed from the wealthy instead of being taken in taxes. Instead of increasing the deficit we need to raise taxes on the top 10% to reach a balanced budget after cutting our overseas military spending.

As I have proposed before we need to place a progressive income tax on all income from all sources over the 90th percentile. Incomes below that level would not be subject to federal income tax. This would put the burden of operating and maintaining the country on the people that own the country.

That is the fair way to run the place.

Do you know anyone in the top 10% (~ $150,000/year) who could lend me their G5 private jet?

No one should not pay tax because they are rich, but they shouldn't give more.

We all benefit from taxes. Let's all pay them equally.
Then again, maybe we won't.

Most sensible people realize progressive taxation is a fair system, including many very wealthy people. It seems to be mostly middle class guys who listen to Rush Limbaugh and think they are going to get rich with a no-money-down real estate scheme who buy into the kind of nonsense you see in the above post.

So the plan is to increase the amount of spending while decreasing the number of people paying for it? How long do you think that's going to last?

That would be the government doing that GregW..the government YOU elected to watch over your best interests.
The rich cannot do anything by themselves without breaking the law.
And who makes the laws ? Why the government does and YOU vote them into power to make those laws.
What..not happy with the laws ? Well every 2 years you get a chance to make a change.

This is a joke thread. But the joke is that most of America believes $250,000 a year is all you need to own a private jet...

This seriously says something about the education of America.

Any link to a source that shows that "most of America believes $250,000 a year is all you need to own a private jet"?

I didn't think so. Nice red herring.

Critical and logical thinking is all but gone.
Soundbites with no substance have become the "collective truth".

If you say something over and over and over the people will start to treat it as the truth..the absolute gospel truth.

We've had almost 2 years of $250K is rich and the suckers are all taken in by it.

Here's 2 soundbites you hear but never together....

The Republicans all bow to the "rich" to get their votes.
The rich make up less than 5% of American voters.

Each one by themselves incites envy and anger from the left.
But said together..one has to think..WTH..the Repubs only care about 5% then how are they getting elected into office ?
