Withdraw all troops from Iraq and Afganistan in 6 months, significantly reduce the number of troops stationed abroad, and significantly reduce money spent on defense programs.
Make it costlier for corporations to outsource jobs, and to leave outsourced jobs abroad.
Cut spending on stupid 'pet' projects that Congress gives to donors.
Change all Welfare to 'Workfare' - elininating the vast numbers who collect the dole, then work cash jobs, and tie Medicaid to being employed at a government job.
Do NOT cut Social Security or Medicare, or raise the minimum age to collect either - those are annuity programs that we were forced to participate in, and we paid for them.
I would go further. I would bring ALL of the troops home. Shut down the rogue agencies like Homeland Security and TSA and the FDA (who are scheming to get rid of natural supplements). End corporate welfare programs ie no more subsidies/grants for huge AGRA and Pharma. FREEZE the Federal Reserve. STOP them from doing any more deals or making any loans until they can be closely and thoroughly audited and BANKSTERS thrown in jail. REPEAL THE PATRIOT ACT. SHUT DOWN duplicate departments that exist in states like Dept of Education. Repeal all unconsitutional/bad federal laws.

We all pretty much realize that government spending is out of control, ... and that a wide range of 'government dole' projects need to be cut. Every 6th grade math student can determine that spending more than one makes is a recipie for financial disaster.
But, why have we allowed our elected representatives to spend us into this ever-deepening hole?? --- The answer is pretty basic. Our own representatives bring home our own localized version of 'pork' and we give them our votes ... instead of asking who is actually going to pay for it. Of course, it's those politicians from OTHER states/areas that are corrupt and need to be voted out!
IMO, Term Limits are the solution --- that way, we get away from 'career politicians' who spend more time (and our money) getting themselves re-elected ... and go back to trying to do what they were elected to do!! (The ballot box is NOT a 'term limit' substitute, for the above mentioned reasons.

I don't know if they would help much. You still have the 2-party system in place. Getting Clinton out in order to get to Bush didn't solve anything. I daresay that if Clinton had remained in office we would have a great economy, would not have been involved in Iraq or Afganistan, 9-11 would never have happened, and we wouldn't have the freaking TSA molesting us, or the Patriot Act evesdropping on us.

If everyone wanted everything that is wrong in the world fixed, they'd do everything humanly possible to do away with the Fed Reserve and every other centralized banking cartel..... everything else will start to fix itself just fine afterwards. Until then..... EVERYONE is nothing more than a puppet in the show.

You left out the war on drugs. I wouldn't quite get rid of the FDA, but I would certainly find a way to hold them in check.
Agreed, end the war on drugs and do away with the DEA. Stop all financial aid to foreign countries. Why should we be borrowing money to send to other countries, let them borrow it themselves.

Yeah, it's not like the foreign aid that we send goes to help the citizens of whatever country it goes to. And as for the war on drugs... well... prohibition feeds the black market. Ask Al Capone.

I wouldn't quite get rid of the FDA, but I would certainly find a way to hold them in check.
