Obama is directly hurting the economy and causing job loss in this industry sector.

Jet industry furious at Obama

In response to Obama’s press conference, the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) and International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) issued a letter to the president. The two organizations challenged the administration’s rhetoric and recalled a similar instance in which 20,000 IAM workers were laid off as a result of “ill-informed criticism of corporate jets and business aviation” and the 2008 downturn.

“Words have consequences and, in this industry, a few misguided words can put at risk even the ever-so-modest recovery we have experienced,” said IAM International President Tom Buffenbarger. “What this industry and its workforce requires is more time to recover, a chance to book more orders and the opportunity to recall more workers.”

Durable goods orders fall 2.1 percent in June

Demand for commercial aircraft plunged 28.9 percent while orders for new cars and auto parts fell 1.4 percent.

Why do corporate jet manufacturers need to get tax breaks that other businesses don't get in order to keep their business going?

Bootstraps, baby, bootstraps. Get off the govt dole.

Change since when? The beginning of the recession or yesterday?

These Princes of Prosperity had better realize the the public views corporate jets as frivolous toys adding to their cost for goods and services. They are viewed as an extravagance.

Ever consider we might have far better commercial aviation if the corporate Princes had to travel on the same aircraft as the rest of us self loading cargo. There would be changes.

Those jobs don't count, since they never should have existed in the first place.

Who said anything about tax breaks?

They need customers - and potential customers are backing off directly due to Obama's rhetoric.
