Mind you, it's also not general republicans that play this dangerous game.

Instead, it's a few brain-dead fringe politicians who try to establish their power by risking everybody's well-being (well, not that of the upper crust, of course). These people are too dumb to fathom that their actions will shake the foundation of this country's economy and that of economies around the globe. Their followers are unfortunate victims of a well-funded and very powerful propaganda machine. Unfortunately, they have been granted more than just a voice but have been put into a position that allows them to hold all of us hostage.

Such events always raise the questions what one is to do in a democracy when voters willingly steer country to the edge.

Already, foreign nations are losing faith and trust in the US - and such loss NEVER has positive effects here at home. Be prepared to pay more for absolutely everything, courtesy of the tea-party movement.

Don't YOU ever get tired of shoveling bullsh*t?

Fox Business? Get real!

John Boehner cant even get REPUBLICANS firmly behind HIS OWN DAMN PLAN!

Boehner waks away from a deal that would cut 4 TRILLION DOLLARS OVER 10 YEARS.

Even the current bill proposed by Senator Harry Reid actually cuts MORE MONEY THAN BOEHNERS PLAN!

Boehner Fights Strife Within Republican Party on Veto-Threatened Debt Plan

Quote:
House Speaker John Boehner, battling resistance from within his own party as he intensifies a debt- ceiling standoff with President Barack Obama, worked to salvage his plan to tie the nation’s borrowing power to spending cuts and budget controls.

With less than a week before a possible default, the Republican-led House remained on a collision course with the Senate and the White House. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office said both chambers’ debt-cutting plans fall short of promised savings. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s plan would save $2.2 trillion over 10 years, short of its $2.7 trillion goal, the CBO said today.

Boehner postponed today’s scheduled House vote on his two- step plan to raise the debt limit, which the White House said Obama would veto, after the CBO said it would save just $850 billion rather than the advertised $3 trillion.

“We are glad Congress’s budget referee agrees that the Senate bill cuts the deficit by $1.3 trillion more than Speaker Boehner’s bill,” said Reid spokesman Adam Jentleson. “It becomes clearer by the hour that the Senate bill is the only true compromise in Congress.”

No, the Republicans will be blamed. But so will President Obama (even if indirectly) and it will show in approval ratings. IF a deal is not met and markets spin into turmoil, Obama's approval rating will sink into the 30s.

For a start, cutting defense, removing the Bush cuts for those in the upper percentile of earnings... You've seen that before, haven't you?

And the ratings for Republicans in Congress will sink down into the teens.

What the Republicans haven't realized is that if the United States goes into default they will take the bigger hit.

THEY ARE THE ONE'S THAT HAVE SAID DEFAULT WOULDN'T BE ALL THAT BAD

THEY ARE THE ONES THAT WOULDN'T COMPROMISE EVEN WHEN PRESIDENT OBAMA PUT SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE AND MEDICAID CUTS ON THE TABLE

THEY ARE THE ONES THAT HAVE SAID OUR GOAL IS MAKE PRESIDENT OBAMA A ONE TERMS PRESIDENT

The Republican Party has put their own party agenda and ideology ahead of the full faith and credit and the economic security of the United States of America

But the Bush tax cuts for the middle class cost nearly 5x more than for the upper tier.

Bush tax cut deal and surprise stimulus - what they cost - Dec. 7, 2010

Quote:
Bush tax cuts: $544.3 billion. The package would extend the Bush tax cuts for everyone for two years.

The bulk of that cost -- $463 billion -- is for the extension of cuts for families making less than $250,000, including two years of relief for 2010 and 2011 for the middle class from the Alternative Minimum Tax.

The rest -- $81.5 billion -- is attributable to the extension of cuts that apply to the highest income families.

The cost of extending all the tax cuts over 10 years would have been $3.7 trillion.
ALL the tax cuts need to be repealed to make a severe dent in the debt. The cuts to one class are nothing more than political games.

Obama can't get full support from within his party either. Of course you have no issues there.
