Ron Paul will never win the white house because he doesn't support social security and medicare. 70% of Americans support those programs, and ask Paul Ryan what happens when you try and tinker with medicare.
The debt ceiling is going to be raised to pay for the old debt, not new debt. Its to pay for the Bush administrations wars, Reagans cold war, and Bush/Obamas tax cuts and stimulus plans.
All of which congress had already approved spending for. The debt ceiling will be raised to continue to pay the interest that congress already approved.
Balance the budget separate from the debt ceiling. This whole debate is silly.
I want a balanced budget also. I want to pay down our debt. But not honoring the debt and the interest on it is asinine and irresponsible.

Ron Paul knows and has never supported a unconstitional program that destroys individual liberty and self determination. Social Security doesn't work and can not last forever! Inflation is killing it and you are taxed on it again as income.
Thankfully the Tea Party backed candidates held strong in the end. They are the ONLY sane ones in DC at this point. The liberals and the RINO's still have their heads in the sand.

No, he does not.
He wants to allow people to opt out of social security, and anyone who knows anything about it knows that once that starts, the program is over.
Its a back door effort to end it. He has had multiple interviews where he has expressed his wishes to end social security as we know it.
And 70% of the American people want social security just the way it is today.
And therein lies the problem. One group of people telling other people how they should live their lives.
