LONDON (Reuters) - Europeans are plagued by mental and neurological illnesses, with almost 165 million people or 38 percent of the population suffering each year from a brain disorder such as depression, anxiety, insomnia or dementia, according to a large new study.
With only about a third of cases receiving the therapy or medication needed, mental illnesses cause a huge economic and social burden -- measured in the hundreds of billions of euros -- as sufferers become too unwell to work and personal relationships break down.
"Mental disorders have become Europe's largest health challenge of the 21st century," the study's authors said.
Go figure.... But, but, but....It's so much better in Europe!!! NOT!
I find that hard to believe. The first questionmark is the claim that 165 millon is somehow 40% of 850 million. Calculator, anyone? A few years ago US was clear #1 leader in mental illness, and but it was argued that we define mental illness differently. For example, is insomnia and social anxienty a mental illness?

Since everyone has universal health care, they all see a doctor to get diagnosed. If all Americans had Health Care the numbers would probably be about the same. Since we have a tyhird world health care system where those most likely to need care get none, we will never know

Yep, it starts with a P and ends with an E, or starts with an L and ends with an L.
well that's what i mean. I believe that extreme levels of partisan thinking, i.e. demonizing people on the other end of the political spectrum, could constitute a mental illness. I think this is true of the left and the right.
For example, if a person finds themself returning to this "answer" that the opposing party's goals are to harm the United States, then I think that's a psychological problem on the part of the accuser.
