Pelosi and Boehner, because of their inability to do their jobs as Speaker and exert influence over their parties.
In fact, considering the weak performance of both, one could come to the conclusion the US would be better off if both the Democratic and Republican parties split up and new parties replaced them.
Also Newt Gingrich, who was beyond being merely inept like Pelosi and Boehner and actively crossed the line into the realm of evil.
A list of the best speakers ever would usually include Sam Rayburn, John McCormack, and Tip O'Neill.
Hard to get past Boehner, as he appears incredibly dumb, and staggeringly unqualified. One wonders how the hell do such incompetents get to hold such prominent roles in the GOP? Says a great deal about the poor state of that party.
I'm having a difficult time not including John Boehner on this list... specifically since his term easily looks short lived, and he has absolutely zero leadership skills to bring his caucus together or help lead the nation in a time of fiscal crisis. He has to be one of the worst in history simply for wanting to play political games over looking out for the common American.
Jim Wright could easily be included on this list as well.
Who else should be included? (Already know the right wing nuts will include Pelosi despite her ability to move a caucus and lead...)
any speaker who tells the country we must pass a bill to know what is in it has to be the worst speaker in history.
I going to say this, I'm not fan of John Boehner but he is in an impossible position although it is partly the result of a situation of his own making. Had the Republican leadership shown real old school political leadership instead of fueling the insanity of teabaggers and birthers he, the House, and most importantly the country wouldn't be in the situation that it is in today. It is one thing to have fundamental policy disagreements with one's political opponents but when the Republican leadership acquiesced, encouraged and finally adopted the language of the fringe members it made a cynical Faustian deal which it now can not undo. This was not Boenhner's fault alone, but one of the Party as a whole. The days of Republican statesmen like Everett Dirkson, Jacob Javitts, Lowell Weicker, Nelson Rockefeller, hell even William F. Buckley and Barry Goldwater are long gone, and the country is the worst off for it.
I doubt that 90% of Americans could even name the last Speaker Of The House prior to Nancy Pelosi. Rabid right-wingers just know that they're supposed to blame Obama and Pelosi for everything, and rabid left-wingers blame Republicans and Bush.
you know what, you are probably right, those of us being political junkies can but most would have no idea. Now, as for blaming Pelosi, what would you expect? She is pretty pathetic, let's face it...it easy to put the blame somewhere and some just follow the leader.

Newt Gingrich, very close behind.
actually Newt was probably one of the best and brightest whether you liked him or I liked him. Now, as for being bright or qualified, you will neve cease to amaze me, you, who konws so much (in your mind anyway) what do you think qualifies someone to be the speaker of the house?
