Alaska belongs in number one. There's no state where a person can be more free in this country. NH is not even close to free. Better than NY, yes, but not exactly free.

An illustration of de jure versus de facto liberty. States with low population density tend to have that advantage in that they afford more of the latter by virtue of there simply being almost no-one around to do the enforcing (once one gets off the beaten path far enough).
