Don't project this to the 2012 election. Gallup polls any adult that apparently picks up the phone. They do not poll likely voters or even registered voters when they do Obama's approval rating.

From the OP link:

"Results for this Gallup poll are based on telephone interviews conducted July 26-28, 2011, on the Gallup Daily tracking survey, with a random sample of 1,463 adults, aged 18 and older, living in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia."

In my opinion it makes it useless information.

He's up 2 more in disapproval today. Must be that debt debate buoying his numbers.

Yeah, I was going to mention that too - Gallup polls adults this far out, which are ALWAYS more favorable to democrats. If this were a LV/RV poll - you can knock 3-5 points off that 40%.

Obama has turned this country into parasites. This Kenyan should be arrested and jailed.

12GO, you have just demonstrated why you Tea Partiers aren't taken seriously. You agree with someone that calls Obama a Kenyan?

Sorry, but anyone who believes this comes across as a fool to average Americans.

That 52% disapproval rate ties the record. Tomorrow's number ought to set a brand new record.

Gallup Daily: Obama Job Approval

Turns out, Abraham Lincoln was right: you can't fool all the people all of the time.

Sanrene, I factored that in. He's been dropping like a rock, and the Thurs-Saturday numbers that get posted tomorrow will be worse. After the show is over, Obama will declare a personal victory against great odds and so he will pick up a bigger fraction of the naive.

Personally, I believe his behavior over the last two weeks has been the most despicable part of his presidency--trumping even the theft of capital in the auto bailouts--because now he's messing with the whole country, not just a few hundred thousand retirees, widows, and pension plan participants. I think you have to go back beyond Carter to Nixon to find a president whose defects compare to Obama's.

Default Expected and meaningless

Any President's approval rating would be down at a time when the country is sick to death of Congress. No surprise that the entire country is unhappy that President Obama doesn't have the ability to drone strike the worthless Republicans so he can solve the problems that plague this nation.

One thing is certain. If Bush were still President, his approval rating would be less than 15%. Any other worthless Republican would not fare much better.

His insistence on raising taxes at a time like this when raising taxes has NEVER increased revenue, but will merely push more folks with really deep pockets into tax shelters such as T-Bills & real estate.

For some reason, this dummy can't comprehend that.

Well, he's not going to get his way - the tentative deal has NO tax increases...a HUGE, HUGE win for the GOP.
