and his fellow Democrats enforced the fillibuster of their own bill. Who is nuts?

At least fiscal Conservatives were willing to do their job (thrice). Harry Reid's Senate in contrast self-destructs in the face of being called to accountability to vote on Reid's bill by Mitch McConnell.

Stupid democrats. The old 60 vote rule that THEY shouted to the heavens about back in the day. Idiots is all I can say.

So different from Republicans shooting down a Republican bill in the House earlier this week. I think only an idiot would point out the politics on one side of the fence and not the other. You can both read into that what you will.

Was their a whole bunch of Republican bull attached to the bill between the introduction and filibuster

It wasn't the filibuster the Democrats had a problem with, it was the Republicans using it as standard procedure.

So it is your opinion if you have a R or D next to your name you have to vote for a bill put up by that party no matter if you agree with it or not? Let me guess you vote a party ticket right?

I just heard Rand Paul talking about that very thing on TV. Paul has a problem in that he is a beginning Senator and he wants to see things done as the rules call for. Rules that have been put into effect over about 200 years and violated so much since they proved to work.

To me it is pretty obvious that we must have a Reid bill that is not completed yet and they have to hold it up till it is finished. Why are they bothering to pass it, anyway. It will be DOA when it reaches the House. Tit for tat is the name of the game they are playing now.

After they fail to get anything done Obama, Reid, and Boehner will meet with a few staffers plus some of the White House staff to draw this thing up and then in a panic will try to force the members of Congress vote for it without allowing any time for the voters, they have become only that, to read and find out what is in there.

actually i like the 60 vote rule in the senate to end a filibuster, or to call for cloture.

there is a big difference between a group of republicans voting against a bill pushed by boehner, and a bill that is filibustered by the very person who pushed the bill in the senate.

But the political equation is that it will have to get 7 repub votes to pass, so they can claim it has "bipartisan support".

We certainly agree on the part about the 60 votes for cloture and completely about the part concerning whose bill is being fought against. Boehner shot down the C, C, and B bill when he insisted on his bill. I wonder which committee wrote that bill. Boehner and some of his staff, I am sure but the rules say that a specific committee should originate the bill and they have stopped doing committe work in the last two terms in Congress.
