Bush Pubs want to cut spending and impose no new taxes, especially for the rich. This strategy certainly didn't help the country under Bush and you can bet it doesn't help the country now. Somehow, this is supposed to help them win back the White House? What they did was shoot themselves in the foot and hopefully arouse the attention of Democrats who abandoned President Obama for the Midterms. It's quite clear that as long as Republicans have a say, the economic condition of this country will be in dire straights. Theirs is a bigoted ideology obsessed with "welfare cheats" and "illegal immigrant moochers." They seek to protect the rich, maximize profits for the rich, deregulate to discriminate and practice racism without scrutiny, cut corners to maximize profits, favor policies that encourage corporate america to displace qualified american workers with foreign labor, and implement policies which tell everyone else to go to hell. The GOP has again been exposed. The greater evil of a default averted.

Compromise favors the Dems here. Pubs have been wrong since 2000 and continue to be so.

Tremendous edge to President Obama.
You're a walking cliche-generator.

Unfortunately this whole senario was called by an analyst on Steve Malsberg show about two weeks ago. The analyst stated that the Dems (led by Obama) needed to get the deal extended to 2013. He also stated that the repubs needed to get some immediate cuts (although not as much as demanded). The analyst (forgot his name) seems to have called it exactly. My only reaction is that it's business as usual for the politicans. The public is still being taken for a ride!

I'm not even sure this post is intelligent enough to make MSNBC

Yes they did.

Thank God for the Tea Party, who actually have principles which they stand by.

You people always complain about politicians flip-flopping, but bash the ones who don't.

BTW....they are the ONLY people in DC who actually take their oath to protect the Constitution of the United States seriously.

DC will not change these people.

The fact that Boehner is being bashed for not being able to bring these Tea Party congresspeople "in line" is proof of that.

"Feelings" and "good intentions" have no place in the Constitution!

Elections have consequences!

Too funny, every sane person sees this as a huge Republican victory.

If this is saniity then the measure is warped. You have a group that will trash the economy in order to get their way. They have no regard for the people as a whole and have the repugs hoodwinked in supporting their plunder of the nation.

doing the same thing and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. The Repugs are the same old story and their supports have some serious blinders on.

I think I might vote for Obama this time.

I hope the entire country does so that he gets reelected and presides over the dissolution of this country and goes down as being the first black president and the worst president (and leader) in the history of space-time.

I'd like the crap to hit the fan on Dec. 21st, 2012 just for fun...

Really? Who said they would not raise the debt ceiling under any circumstances? I believe that was your Tea Party bunch along with some Repubs. Guess what, it is going to happen and we do not default. Did the Dems give back in return, apsolutely, but the Dems were always open to compromise and the Repubs were saying they would not. So spin it anyway you want folks, the fact is your boys that caved.
