This thread is entertaining.
You're seeing who the real racists on C-D are. It's funny that they are the same ones that use the term T*R BABY as racist...maybe they need to choose a less bigotted group of friends?

I'm sure he has no idea how that term is interpreted in 2011 despite McCain and Romney both being screwed by using the term in recent years.

True feeling always seem to slip out in soundbites.
Good to know none of our Republican Reps are Racists, OH Wait, Nevermind.
And the GOP wonders why so few blacks want to be part of their "group" when fools like him are allowed to spew their hate and are tolerated, hopefully this district will resolve the problem.

Actually, nothing proves racism more than this obsession with words that in the past had racial implications. For this reason the worst racists today are the ones who say Obama's performance as President cannot be criticized in any way--because he's half African-American. Any group that gets together and censors every word for racial connotation is not relaxed and comfortable with members of various races--it is a group exquisitely aware of any minorities present, and worried about "proving" that they are not, in fact, racist in any way. But by being so obsessed, they prove the exact opposite.

I have never heard a group of African-Americans afraid to say the "N" word (which I dare not even write, so absurd has this become), or to make racial remarks. And when my college roommate turned out to be oriental, I eventually forgot about censoring my speech, as friendship replaced all labels. Perhaps when liberals are able to look past Obama's color and see his performance as President, they'll realize that following ALL of Bush's misguided policies, but spending ten times as much on them, makes him even more of a disaster than Bush was.
Except that Rep. Lamborn used the term to refer to Obama himself.

(From the link)

Even if some people say, ‘Well the Republicans should have done this or they should have done that,’ they will hold the president responsible. Now, I don’t even want to have to be associated with him. It’s like touching a tar baby and you get it, you’re stuck, and you’re a part of the problem now and you can’t get away,” Lamborn said Friday on the Caplis and Silverman Show on 630 KHOW talk radio

Also, reading the link, it explains the derivation of the term and the racial context of it, all the while some people on here were arguing they'd never heard of it and had no clue what Lamborn (who is an idiot, IMO) was talking about. Hint: Read the link next time before spouting off on your (collective) ignorance!

The link where an editorial writer put HIS racist spin on the story? To make it out that a racist term was used, when none was in the context of the quote? Yeah, that really adds credibality to the arguement.

Imagine if Obama/any other Democrat had said "Dealing with the GOP is like wrestling with crackers". Would you find that racist? Why?

The quote I posted is Lamborn's direct words, in quotes itself.

Yes...and where is the racial overtone? The context is pretty clear, with regard to the term "tar baby" being a sticky situation, one where the more you touch it, the more "stuck" you become. The racial spin in the link came from the commentator.

It was a personal comment, referring to Obama.

I'm certain that the person in question was using the term to mean that it's frustrating (or something similar) to work with Obama.

ETA:

People will spin anything to try to make whites and/or conservatives look racist.
I read the story as a kid, so I knew what the reference was:

The Tar-Baby is a doll made of tar and turpentine used to entrap Br'er Rabbit in the second of the Uncle Remus stories. The more that Br'er Rabbit fights the Tar-Baby, the more entangled he becomes. In modern usage, "tar baby" refers to any "sticky situation" that is only aggravated by additional contact. The tar baby is a trap that should be avoided.

Oh yeah!

Obama faces a devastating defeat and it is devestating. I was watching Chris Matthews last night and these socialists consider restoring America to financial stability a real threat to their power.

So what do they do?
Lets start playing the race card!!!!

It infuriates me to see the depravity of those who would destroy this country and sell us out.
