Do you really believe this man purposely insulted the most powerful man in the world with a racial slur on national TV?
How do I know Lamborn had heard the term "tar-baby"? LOL! He used it, in a sentence referring to the president!
I can't get into Lamborn's head (thank G*d!). I don't know if he meant it derogatorily or what. I said earlier, there is little overt racism in Colorado, and I'll add, Colorado Springs, for all its conservatism, has a lot of diversity with its military presence. But the point is, Lamborn used the term. He didn't just make it up on the fly; I don't think he's that smart.
I agree MiamiRob...I wonder why these tea bagging repubs keep using code words in public like "tar baby", "magic negro", "you lie", socialist, nazi, hitler, witch doctor, and kenyan, but once they get by themselves in the country club, you know they are spelling President Obama with an "N"....
Hmmmm......and all this time I thought the average Tea Party person was a toothless, gun totin', ignorant, Christian fundamentalist, Nazi, racist, extremist, terrorist redneck. How could I have been so misinformed?
I'm sure he has no idea how that term is interpreted in 2011 despite McCain and Romney both being screwed by using the term in recent years.
True feeling always seem to slip out in soundbites.
Do you actually know the story of briar rabbit and the tar baby? Why does EVERYTHING have to have a racial conotation? I'm soooooo tired of walking on eggshells with this type of garbage.....some bone head hanging on every word looking for an excuse to scream racism. Arrrrrrrrg!!!!

I'm not really sure, but I'd guess it takes a lot of effort. And perhaps an unwavering devotion to far-left blogs.

Don't you think it's possible he referred to the old children's story referenced earlier in this thread? Have you ever worked with tar? I have. It is really hard to get off. You are probably going to lose some skin, and most assuredly all the hair on the part of your body covered in tar.

It's great for adhering feathers to a loon, though.

Read Choclot's link. The racial term is grease ball/bag and not grease bucket as I used in my list of examples things the representative could have said instead of 'tar baby'. And I would have agreed that calling someone a grease ball/bag is racist, but that's not what was said. Grease ball evolved from the word 'greaser' a 1800s British/U.S. slang for Mexicans. Sorry, but grease bucket does not make it into the Dictionary of Slang and Euphemism and until it does, it's not in common usage enough to be consisted racist. As I said before in this thread, a word used as a racist term has to have a historical context which is contrary to what some people in this thread think---that people just make them up to stir the pot. You want to borrow a dictionary sometime, come over. I have over 100.
