Well the US is a consumer nation. And if we have no money to consume well then we just print some up. This will not have a happy ending.

What we don't want is a dysfunctional government which is what the Tea Party has brought to the table. Governing---unless you want a dictatorship---requires compromise and if you go to Washington as a representative you should expect to compromise, not gridlock the country into a 3rd world Banana Republic. I went to a telephone Tea Party town meeting a few days ago and got a taste of what some them want for less government intrusion: "What can we do about CNN being on all the TVs at the airport?" I kid you not. Someone asked that question. And of course the abortion issue came up as well as gay marriage. It's a falsehood to claim Tea Partiers want less government intrusion!

It may eventually evolve into that. The idea of a "third party" has been mentioned more frequently this time around. Many posters on CD have brought it up. The Reform Party fizzled after a few years but this time a third party might solidify and become a real force in American politics....if it isn't hijacked by its enemies.

Compromise just bought us $17 trillion in debt. It was compromise, wheeling and dealing, political kickbacks, and backroom deals that gave us $14.5 trillion on debt.

We should not compromise with the same people who got us here. The problem is, that is exactly what we did.

We did absolutely nothing to reduce federal spending, the baseline budget will increase about 8% more each year, and discretionary spending will increase without any controls. We just gave the green light to ramp up our debt by another few trillion.

The TP makes up a huge portion of Americans. There are more TP members then there are liberals.

The TP members are mostly hard working tax paying family people who dont need slapped anywhere as they are a majority to the anti American liberals.

Why do liberals not understand that the TP makes up more in numbers then the radical left wingers in America?

So they are not allowed to have a voice?

While I think that the Tea Party caucus did engage in coercion during the debt ceiling debate, and I think that they were in the wrong for doing that, I have to disagree with your thread title. We live in a society whose government derives its power from the people. Which means that no one, be they racist, fascist, socialist, anarchist, homemaker, scientist, Democrat or Republican, no one deserves to be considered irrelevant.

I have yet to see any reason to go where the Tea Party and most of right wing want us to go. All of these places would be a financial and social disaster for most of America.

We can start by supporting any and all Democratic Party Candidate in All future elections on the local, state and federal levels. Donate to them and work for their election and we can free ourselves of the monied wealth suckers damaging almost all of us.
Um democrats helped do much of what you are crying about above and then you tell us to support them.

Seriously, your post is almost satire.

If the Tea Party keeps it up. We just might get back to our roots and end this corrupt generation of bankers and politicians manipulating the tax payer and business owners of this country.

For future reference, the OP seldom comes back. I think he/she is a troll, posts ridiculous things and doesn't engage in the conversation.
