Kinda like the warentless phone taps we have today.

The ISP would have possession of the data as they do now, the government doesn't have possession of it. They would either have to request it or they could get a court order for it, same thing they do now. The mechanism for them obtaining it has not changed, the only thing that has changed is there is time limit the ISP has to keep it. It shouldn't be surprising if many ISP's are already in compliance with this law.

How is keeping the ISP info around for 18 months instead of some arbitrary time period "controlling ideas". Honestly, this post is not rooted in reality.

I guess if lived in the same world of make-believe as many of the posters here....where my imagination dictated reality and not the actual facts of a bill...then I'd be pretty paranoid too.

We've told them this a number of times.

Instead they keep making up what the Bill will actually do, including censor the internet etc.

If they pass a bill raising speed limits these are the same folks that would start linking to it and say that it's a new attempt at mind control or taxation etc. Reality is just right out the window.

Reminds me of things my cousin would say while off his meds.
