If the law were truly about cracking down on illegal pornographers, why isn't the law drafted to limit warrant capabilities to investigations regarding illegal pornography?
The way it is drafted, the data can be reviewed for any legal purpose. For all we know, this could end up being much more of a bill to crack down on online poker players than anything else.
The ISP's already do for their own purposes and purge the records depending on their need or use, this I think has to do with standardizing it across the board for a minimum time to which they must retain their records.
If anything, it is just one more regulation that will have additional cost consequences across the market.
I believe most keep them for 6 months now on average. The costs should not be that much as it would only involve some additional storage space.
This reason is not good enough. Parents can do that.
Wait till they get the remote brain scan monitor...then they will be able to monitor your thoughts...and a new class of crime (hate thought crime) will be created.
I think that NSA has enough info to hunt for pornographers from Echelon. The new legislation is targeted at the average citizen to control the ideas that may cross their mind. Especially any idea against establishment and about real democracy.
It mandates the keeping of ISP info a standard 18months so if they come along with a WARRANT they can find out whom uploaded some kiddie porn and not have the info gone after say 3months by the ISP's arbitrary action.
.
And you think they will only look at that data if they have a warrant ????? Dream on.
Kinda like the warentless phone taps we have today.
