I was waiting for someone to erroneously use this quote.
Margaret Thatcher is an idiot who does not understand Socialism. In no what this quotes says applies to Socialism.
Most useful if you're aiming to be ignorant. Which I have seen a lot of.
"interfering with freedom?" like DOMA and The Patriot Act?
So you're complaining about the minimum wage and then say it's not enough?
Well you've got yours so s**** everyone else, right?
Your words about Thatcher's words about socialism tell me that you don't really believe in redistribution of wealth as a part of socialism. I see nothing but that involved in socialism.
I am starting to believe that only a socialist thinks he can define socialism. He seems to not agree with redistribution of the wealth but still wants socialism which involves government ownership of the major means of manufacture and transportation, in order to make sure that redistribution can take place.

When a socialist is trying to redefine socialism you know that it's just an attempt to hide its true nature.
Yeah, all of a sudden the youth of today knows what these things REALLY are.... LMAO! You tots have been brainwashed into believing everything you know and believe today.
Truly independent minds listen to Alex Jones and Glen Beck!
Most people I know who have lost their job in these tough times have settled for something in the meantime even though it pays a fraction of what they use to make. Why? Because most people would rather have some kind of job then no kind of job. Most people are responsible enough to make their way as best they can. And when the corporation world knows this, think they won't exploit it?
So the idea that wages will grow when business have to pay more to attract is not always true, specially in this outsourcing globalist reality. Gas went up, prices of food and stuff went up. Gas prices went back down, but the companies never lowered their prices again. The "right thing" is not always done out of free will.
To think that those in the position to exploit wouldn't due to morals or due to have interesting toward others or the nation, is naive. If it happens that the top wealthy are in a position to exploit, it is no surprise to me that everyday people would band together so they have power to take them on and use regulation against them.
It would take a nation shattering situation to get people protesting in mass because most people are too busy working, too afraid to loose their job if they went to protest instead. You don't have time to fight the good fight when you are too busy trying to survive.
I'm assuming most of us have read the Communist Manifesto at least once, if not many times.
Apparently not, because someone up thread pretty much accused me of making everything up. LOL. Besides, you would have to look at other Marx writings to get the full picture.

I think he is just someone who believes in the original definition of the word. That conception of socialism is still quite popular. The version of socialism that gets bandied around conservative circles, however, is usually state socialism or something a dictator picked up and called "socialism" at some point in history.
I am not a socialist, but I do understand that there are definitions of the word beyond the Glen Beck et al version. Like the original one. Heh.
I don't know if the original conception of socialism could work anyway. I do like the idea of co-ops as an alternative business model though. I could see more of those mixed in with what we have now.
And socialism still has nothing to do with Obama IMO.

Yes, because the only real Socialism by definition and by practice, is the original type. State Socialism is Capitalism.
