and our accessibility to medical care will be as mediocre as that of those subjected to the NHS in Britain.

Miracle girl Megan is cancer free after U.S. treatment | Irish News | IrishCentral

Quote:
Megan, from the village of Kilnamartyra near Macroom, was diagnosed with a rare cancerous brain tumor last October.

Irish doctors said she had just weeks to live but her parents John and Sheila refused to believe them.

Now, after spending over a million dollars on treatment in the States, they are preparing to bring their little girl home to Ireland in September.

It is ironic that under Obamacare, if your patient is really sick and isn't going to do well... you won't get paid for anything after that... but the doctors will treat them anyways with the government yelling at the doctors to stop... who is going to let their patients suffer? Lucky we put them in the middle of everything...

Another victory for capitalism and the freedom to produce whatever the heck you want - for profit.

Yes, for those who have over a million dollars to spend on treatment it will be a sad day!
For those of lesser financial means...

Soooo, one girl lives, but hundreds of others die because they can't afford medical care. If only I had a spare million bucks sitting around.

I didn't know that the Republic Ireland was still part of Britain!

The article is about Ireland NOT Great Britain.

Quote:
Ireland’s Health Service is to cover the $340,000 cost of Megan’s radiotherapy treatment in Boston.
I see that Ireland's Health Service is covering $340,000 for her treatment in Boston! How dare the Irish Socialist Health Care covering that amount of money in a foreign country.

The U.S. government would not do the same if it was an America girl having treatment in Ireland.

I was diagnosed with Stage IV lymphoma, dropping my chances from 90% to around 65%, because inadequate health insurance while in college meant I couldn't afford to see a doctor or get the tests I needed when I was a student during my 3 years as an undiagnosed person with cancer.

Does my life not matter because I'm not independently wealthy in my early 20s?
