The Dems are holding it up , just vote on the bill you have . The House passed the bill to the Senate , vote and its done .
The House planted two unrelated stinkbomb GOP goodie-wishes in the FAA bill, then dared the Dems to let the layoffs happen. This is extortion. I applaud Reid and the Dems for not giving in to extortion, unlike their cowardly standard-bearer.

Thank goodness we have some legislators who are going to bat against stupidity. All we need now is some Dem to say "Don't call my bluff!" Here's another clue: the idea behind bluffing is to not let the other person know you are bluffing. I guess Barack, who never had a paper route or even a job in a business, never played poker either.
If you raise the cost of Labor, people will have more $ to spend, which will help, eventually, everyone......if FDR's policies were so bad, why did he get elected 4 times?
What the Pugs are doing to the FAA bill is just bullspit, I wouldn't be nearly as mad, if they negotiated, even a bad proposal on their part, to the Unions that are a part of the FAA, however, saying they won't sign anything unless there are NO unions in the new bill? That puts idealogy before country........
if you're going to do something like that, at least sign this bill and then save your idealogy crap for the next time this goes around, by negotiating for the anti union provision now (for the next time, NOT this time)......80k workers cannot afford it.
It's been Unionized for at least 1/2 a century......to grandstand like this right now is just evil.
Again, it's the GOP holding this up, since they won't budge on their language about no unions in the FAA.

When Jonathan Karl, a correspondent for ABC News, asked why Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) had blocked a short-term FAA extension offered by Republicans on the Senate floor Tuesday, Democrats lost their patience.
I don't have a problem with what the GOP is doing. We ought to be turning the screws on both the unions, and Ray LaHood.
So you admit the GOP is holding up funding for the FAA, shutting down dozens of projects, tossing thousands of workers into no-pay lay offs, in the middle of a depression, under a ruse, in order to undermine a union's ability to hold democratic elections, and make the Transportation Sec look bad?
AND, you think that's a GOOD thing?
Have you thought about running for the Tea Party Congress? You'd fit right in.

No..the House passed the bill. Rockefeller is holding it up and he's a Dem.
Yep, it is another hostage situation in DC. Pass a GOP bill with all additional demands or FAA gets one through the head. Apparently 74 000 people already did not get their paychecks.
I have never seen such irresponsible political behaviour. NEVER!!

Being the clueless Democrat that he has always been, Schumer doesn't realize that subsidies are a waste of money, and that flying out of many of those rural airports is substantially more expensive than flying out of a nearby and much larger hub, but also much more dangerous because of the much smaller aircraft which are utilized.

I actually don't have much of an issue, stopping subsidzed are service to towns who really don't need it, since they are close enough to cities that have air service already, that could work instead.....Rutland, VT (Burlington) and Newport, Oregon (Eugene) are two examples of this......
however, the anti union crap is just despicable and evil (at least doing it this way).
