Just more GOP RW overreach. There are some elections next week that may mark the start of the correction process.
I just think it is funny how the left tries to demean, ridicule and flat out trash FOXnews then posts articles from the likes of the Baltimore Sun as if it and most other papers aren't in any way biased.
Yeah, I don't get it. The House has done their job, and passed the bill, why won't the Senate?
It's because that f-ing ******** John Mica decided to throw in some controversial riders into the bill at the last minute, knowing that it would put Democrats in an awkward position. He cut subsidies to some airports in Democratic states. And there was some haggling over unionization.
Now, maybe Mica's suggestions have merit, but he didn't have to do it this way. Normal decent humans from any political side would have just passed a TEMPORARY EXTENSION of the funding AS IS and then engaged in the debate after Congress's summer recess.... but NO, we have to stick it to tens of thousands of FAA employees, who are now digging into savings and hitting the unemployment lines while Democrats and Republicans hit the beach.
Regardless of whose fault this is, this is not the way to govern the country. This is the second example in as many weeks of political concerns trumping governing and managing.
I thought we elected a lot of people with "business experience" who were going to help the government run more efficiently? Despite what some loons say, we NEED an FAA. I fly twice a week and would like safety inspectors to be paid, airport infrastructure projects to continue (I guess those WERE shovel-ready), and the safety of the nations aviation system (a strong vehicle of commerce) not to be compromised but idiotic government in-fighting.
We as a nation should not stand for this-- from our Republican or Democratic Representatives.
If you're looking at this as some type of Partisan victory-- congratulations. You're now part of the problem, you imbecile.
you are right, we put into office in 2010 a lot of people with business experience to run the country more efficiently. unfortunately we still have entrenched people like shummer and others that still have no clue about running a business, or are so far out of touch that they have forgotten how to run a business. unions are a detriment to an efficient business.
Yes, that would be the short term extension with John Mica's last minute tricks in there. It even says so in your link. Mica is just doing this as a way of sticking it to the Democrats over their position on unionization.
What both sides should have done is authorize a CLEAN short-term extension and THEN taken on the full debate with subsidies, unionization etc. when Congress returns from break. But that approach wouldn't have put tens of thousands of people out of work, which is the leverage that Mica sought.
If this isn't politics at its worst, I don't know what is. When your employer decides to change the HR policies, how would you take it if they didn't pay you for a few months while management haggles about it?
Well now, let's see. The usual process is the House passes a bill, then the Senate passes their bill, then the two chambers get together and meld those two bills into one.
Has the democrat Senate passed their bill yet?
They are not going to pass a bill which is 10% issue related, and 90% unrelated GOP demands. This is beyond ridiculous.

Now with all the money and stupid people in this country, can't the corporate powers and Rush Limbaugh and FOX News have their base thinking the same way as that North Korean?
Of course they can. How else do you convince poor white trash to argue against affordable health care and employment?

All politicially motivated, just to prove their ill guided point about unions, that make up less than 8% for the work force anyway (any con that thinks they're such a problem needs a reality check) and to make Obama, indirectly look bad to the ill informed, about more job losses.
The GOP can force Congress to come back over someone's personal right to life issue, however, they won't do that for something like this, that's why I generally hate the GOP.
