If tea politicians believed that the debt level should not be raised regardless of any damage it caused why did the majority of them then go ahead and raise it ?

Seems to be a lack of both political and moral courage in the tea party, if they believed in cutting spending by the amount the USA borrows (40 % ?) why did they not do it ?

Or are they the same as any other politician, self serving ?

They didn't. They shot themselves in the foot for the extreme voices in their base.

The TEA party is dead. The super committee will bypass them, they are meaningless.

They should have settled for 80% or 90% of what they wanted instead of holding out for 95%.

They enjoy a whole 4% approval rating nationally. Thats lower then congress as a whole, an accomplishment to say the least.

The complaining, as is in the OP, is the death throws of a movement that wasn't really a movement.

I can't seem to find a list of who voted yea and who voted nay. Perhaps if you link to this, you would get your answers as to who held their ground and who didn't.

I completely disagree. The TP is certainly a movement and it's here to stay, at least through the next election. People are POed at the spending spree the gov't has gone on (which has gone on for years, not just with Obama). The super committee will have designees from all different viewpoints and I'm willing to bet some TPers will be included.

Where are you getting your 4% approval rating stat? I just saw a poll on a CBS website when googling for the results of the debt ceiling vote and almost half of the respondents said no one comes out ahead b/c of this "deal." Other options included Obama, Dems, Repubs, TP, etc. By a huge margin, no one comes out ahead, according to CBS site visitors (which are obviously not just TPers).

You're on your hands and knees begging for a dictator.

It's disgusting how you can deem a certain part of your population useless and meaningless in their opinion on where the U.S. should go as a nation.

You can't disenfranchise people any faster than to order their elected representative null and void through some super congress.

the tea party is a tool, like a baseball bat. i think they did a good job doing what they were made to do, which was fight the increase in debt. It was needed, and nobody else was going to do it.

they may be chipping away at the wrong pieces of the budget in the first place.

Never once said that did I? I never said I like the way Washington works either, but I do know that to change a system you have to work within a system.

Simply saying you are always right, and they are always wrong doesn't get you anywhere.

Sociopathic yes, but it made Rush Limbaugh into the richest man on radio.
