The Dems have to mount a primary challenge Obama now. No matter how much the Dem cheerleaders in this forum try to blame everyone but him, he is clearly through.

No... what happened was the White House tried to lie to S&P about the "trillions" that they have... the S&P saw through the lies and proceeded to downgrade... they don't deal in fictional trillions...

OK, I get it. Call people delusional if they don't fully embrace or agree the conservative point of view. Nice mantra, BTW.

And what is so crazy is that the ratings agencies TOLD US that they wanted to see $4T in cuts. We basically spit in their faces with the debt ceiling deal. Why didn't our elected officials stave off this downgrade by actually making the necessary cuts?

Look at the bright side. If you're saving for a house and are cash heavy, you'll be pleasantly surprised at prices in 3-6 months.

They waited until Friday evening to do this precisely because the markets are closed at that time. With all the panic selling going on the last few days, they knew that if they announced it during trading, people would have freaked out and the markets would have gone down the toilet. We'll still probably have a down day on Monday, but I guess they're hoping that it won't be as bad if professionals who make up the bulk of trading have a time to process the information.

The first sitting president to ever have the credit of the US Government downgraded under his watch.
