To start we need to institute countervailing tariffs to eliminate any import price advantage due to wages, subsidy, and lax environmental and safety standards. Then we need to tax the proceeds from overseas investments at twice the rate of domestic profits. And finally we need to stop our endless thirst for foreign petroleum by creating our own from coal and natural gas.

I am tired of the proponents of "free trade" ignoring the damage done to this country by importing "free" labor.

Explain to me how your plan will make us competitive with workers who make 1/4 to 1/3 what we do half-way across the world.

There were 2 plans of attack.

You are leaning to #1
Trade tariffs and strict illegal immigration enforcement.

You can fight the truth, cussing it, and punching at it, but in the end there it is.

Your regulations make you less nimble. Your borders keep people who want to come here for a better life out. The 15 million that have made it here can go about stealthily because you choose to act like they aren't here. Your minimum wage immediately puts a hamper on ideas, and prospects for ideas, because they immediately have to attach $15,080 to every full time job without any benefits at all. The illegal Obamacare just added more to that number.

You then ask these people to compete against a mfg base in other countries that makes 1/10th what you do.

Self-delusion et al.

They like walls and barriers and regulations because they're scared of the truth. The truth that they really are only worth $11,200 (2010 dollars) but are used to a $44,700 (2010) lifestyle.

In other words they're wrong on every single level of every single argument and they're going to make everyone else's lives around them a living hell fighting that truth.

If there is another world war it will be because of the people fighting against the truth.

It would be equal free trade.
We would both be equals, competing on a fair and level playing field.

You either go their way or make them come yours. Or both. Truly a bi-partisan approach.

Could be, but I wouldn't bet on it if I were you.

It's not my rules and I didn't overpopulate the planet and have them now figure out that it's overpopulated and has been for quite some time now.

I've done all I can do not to propagate anything.

I've paid into your system my entire working career and used literally none of it.

Your system is coming down whether you like it or not because you never had the money for any of it in the first place.

If you cut the government in half and only kept SS and Medicare it would take you 60 years to pay back your external debt. Those programs you did decide to keep will be $108 trillion short in 2050. And according to another poster here your state liabilities are overdue by $98 trillion.

And just like a single phase 240 volt sine wave (predator-prey, creditor-debtor, male-female, etc) it's coming back to zero degrees.

Would it be ironic that it was all built up by white presidents and its apex is occurring on a half-white half-black president's watch?

Get it? Black and white?
