I am predicting that Baucus holds tight and the cross over will be Rep. Xavier Becerra, D-Calif.

My reasoning is Becerra was part of Simpson/Bowles and from what I read there were spending cuts and no tax increases. They broke all tax payers in 3 groups with the top rate being 28% so the commission was recommending tax cuts.

If it goes the other way the cross over will be :

Sen. Rob Portman R-Ohio
Portman acted as director of the Office of Management and Budget under President George W. Bush and before that as the U.S. Trade Representative. Though he's only served in the Senate since 2010, Portman also served in the House for 12 years. He is seen as a relative moderate on the committee comprised of six members of each party that must have a majority vote to pass any action.
He was in the Bush administration, that in itself shot down his conservative credentials. Nuf Said.

Oh they agree on a lot more than they let on. It's just not about true policy. It's more about how to funnel the most federal money to their friends. The bickering is just a show, to make Americans think they follow a real ideology and garner support from those who have the us-vs-them mentality.
