China may be worst protectionist ever: U.S. analyst - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/china-may-worst-protectionist-ever-u-economist-180739208.html - broken link)
China along with her history, to me, is like a turtle popping its' head out to see if it is clear and safe. I can see why they'd want to manipulate their currency with that regard given the many exploits that have taken place, but seriously, is there another way to do it?
I find it ironic enough someone from the U.S. is critical of China's position on the yuan; its' economy, if i'm not mistaken has grown by leaps and bounds due to its' "protectionist" ways. Maybe U.S. policymakers can learn a thing or two from being protectionist to boost America's economy.

Japan was also very "protectionist" in the 50s 60s and 70s and that's how their economy grew.
But I don't understand the question. Does anyone think that in 2011 the US can do what China does?
