I couldn't get past the paywall, but from what I could ascertain:
1. This isn't a news story, it's an opinion piece by rabid right-winger Peggy Noonan.
2. the only mention of what President Obama's advisors may be doing is: .
There are lots of things that one can imagine, but that doesn't make them facts.
Go to Google News, and search on the title of the piece, "The President's Island Retreat". Then you can read the whole thing. Not worth it, IMO.
You are correct, it's not news, it's not reporting any such thing as anyone advising Obama not to run, or his considering it. It's a partisan piece of wishful thinking.
One piece of "evidence" the author relies on is that "the timing of this vacation is incongruent, and so is the location."
Congress is out of session. It is not incongruent for the president to take a break at the same time. Let's see.... the legislation is out, it's summer when millions of Americans traditionally take vacations, it's right before school starts after which vacations are harder to take... incongruent timing?
As for the location - I suppose Noonan thinks a person should choose the site of their vacation (you know, the thing you do to get away from things, take a break) based on where other people think you should go, to make a political statement.
So, based on some "funny feeling" of incongruency of the vacation, Noonan supposes Obama must be weighing rather to run.
The evidence is clear. Every objective observer who has reviewed the evidence, even extreme conservatives, has concluded without a doubt that he was born exactly where and when he says he was born.
Nobody who is not a racist claims that President Obama was born in Kenya.
Right, you read the article, and that's what you came away with? You must be imbibing early, because Noonan, who's shown no love to Obama, doesn't say anything about Obama's advisors telling him not to run. This thread's title has no connection to REALITY.
I didn't see the implied word that came after DON'T. I guess you didn't either. However, we both know what the implied word was, don't we?
He showed us early in his term that he was thin skinned. Politics is no place for anyone who has a great psychological need for approval and the presidency is the worst spot of all.
"If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen." Harry Truman
I wonder how many posters here are old enough to remember the heat that was directed at Harry Truman. I'll bet there aren't many who heard it for real.
"""Obama's advisor's are telling him not to run this weekend. """
He isn't running this weekend, he's at Martha's Vineyard.
Or did you mean his advisors told him not to jog this weekend?
Why couldn't he jog on the weekend? Isn't the weekend safe?
